Where to stay in Santa Monica

Santa Monica's hotels range from luxury to boutique, offering more than 3,500 rooms located at or near the waterfront. Staying at a beachfront resort can cost a bundle, so if you have a limited budget in mind, consider accommodations away from the water. Hotels just a few blocks from the ocean offer comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi and cable TV at a fraction of the cost charged by their beachfront equivalents. For an even more affordable stay, consider one of the city's inns or motels.

  • During out last visit to LA in August we did not do the Ferris Wheel and regretted it, so this time in late May, it was on our list to do! There was no line or crowd on the Tuesday we went in late May...  more »
  • We didn't ride any of the rides. We just hung out and walked along the pier. There were a lot of interesting people and small vendors. You could also fish off the pier.  more »
  • Amusement park at Santa Monica pier in LA. Good, but pricey fun. Single ride 5,50/8,50, adult pass 32,50$ (if i remember right). Our parking was 12$.  more »

  • Amazing experience, and a must stop on your L.A. area journey or vacation. Hugely popular with tourists and locals, especially families with children. Extremely crowded on weekends, twice as busy in the summer. Prices aren't actually too bad, but can still be pricey so plan ahead for that. Nothing better than a mini-amusement park with rides and treats right on the beach, built over a pier and staring out at the Pacific Ocean. Highly recommended.
  • Many fun activities, fun rides you can enjoy. I've always enjoyed Bumper Cars. Great place for a kid to have a day in the sun. Great place to hold a Birthday party. This is a place where it is maintained with great staff if you need help.
  • My daughter rode her first rollar coaster!! She loves the West Coaster! The lines were short and they let us have two rides at a time if there wasn't a lot of people waiting!! Awesome time! Keep it up! Love it!
  • We love it here. Some of the amenities: Wristbands for rides are expensive, as are the ride tickets. Arcade seems to always be packed. Small food court available so you can eat. Bright neon lights at night. Games. Little carts with people selling their wares. People singing both on the pier with microphone/speakers, in addition to down on the beach. You have to come experience it if you come to town. Parking is not free in the pier lot. Very congested and a bit confusing trying to find your way down here if you're not familiar with the area...might want to use a ride service or park farther up and walk down if you can.
  • The pier was full of people of all backgrounds. Food and merchant shops we're buzzing... But my favorite part was standing on the pier with my Beautiful Wife watching the sun set behind a mountain over the Pacific. Priceless!
