#1 of 21 in Spas in New Mexico
A tribute to traditional Japanese hot spring resorts, ten thousand waves offers spas, pools, and body treatments in a garden setting. Relax in one of the facility's hot tubs, ranging from public shared ones to specialty tubs complete with waterfalls. Later, refresh yourself in the cold plunge pool. Give some relief to aching muscles with one of the available professional massages, including deep-tissue, Thai, and hot stone. Ask, too, about facials and skin treatments. The restaurant is modeled after a Japanese eatery and features traditional grilled specialties. If you're looking for a long-term stay, accommodations and private spa rooms are available, but book early. • This spa is a must every time I am in Santa Fe. The community pool is very clean and well stocked. The sauna is hot hot hot with two heaters and there is plenty of room with two tears of benches. The dressing rooms have pretty much everything you would need and if it isn’t there, the front desk has it. The restaurant on the property is absolutely delicious and the staff feels like family. Don’t forget you can buy the kitchen a six pack! They appreciate it greatly.
  • I’m the second generation to come here: my dad used to visit back when he was a graduate student at St. John’s and always raved about how incredible it was. I have to agree. Serene atmosphere and impeccably designed. Every member of the staff we have encountered are top notch, well mannered and professional. I recently got my very first prenatal massage here and it was such a relief to my aching body. Will continue to return every time I’m in Santa Fe and who knows, maybe we’ll make it 3+ generations of happy patrons :)
  • I went to the spa and had a facial and massage. The staff was incredibly professional and really good at what they did! My skin looks amazing and I felt so relaxed after the whole experience. This place came highly recommend by friends and I'll definitely be back. If you're torn between two spas, I'd vote for this place!
  • Me and my husband try to go every year for our anniversary and in the past we always get two 80 min massages and soak in the bath, the massages are always shorter than the 80 min. This year we were able to save up to go in, however I could only get the 50 min massage for us and soak in the bath. First our massage therapists were running late, that is okay with me as long as I get what I paid for, nope we get rushed in, rushed out. After our massages we went to the sauna stayed in there for a bit and than went to get dressed, at that time I check the time and according to the time our massages were roughly about 30 min?? I left with this on my mind and was pretty disappointed after confirming with my husband within our massage time and the time I picked up my phone. The bath is nice and hot, the saunas are neat, the locker rooms are stocked and clean and that is huge plus. I like the place but more than likely will not be doing any more massages with them, just the bath soaks. They are pricey and I do not seem to be getting the time I paid for, which is sad.
  • My significant other and I had an incredible day at Ten Thousand Waves. We chose the Lunch Special and I couldn't imagine anything more perfect for us. We arrived 30 minutes early and I'm so glad we did. We got to shower and relax until our private hot tub was available. It was perfect. It had a hot rocks sauna room, a relax room, and the outdoor tub with a beautiful view of the forest. Then we got to shower before our 80 minute massages, which they were able to do in one room for us. It was the best massage both of us have ever had. Absolutely incredible. Then we showered and dressed for lunch at their wonderful restaurant. Easily the best food we had our whole trip to Santa Fe, with an amazing view of the mountains (sit outside!). I was not a fan of our server, but maybe he was just having a bad day. All in all, it was worth every penny. I can't wait to return!

Where to stay in Santa Fe

Though the downtown area contains most of Santa Fe's finest hotels, you can find plenty of equally comfortable inns and motels just outside this busy central district. Remember also that most of the city's centrally located hotels raise their prices during the height of the tourist season, so it is essential to look for deals and make reservations well in advance. To experience the true spirit of outdoor New Mexico while on holiday, consider sleeping under the stars at a campground just a short drive from Santa Fe's major urban attractions.
