Ten Thousand Waves, Santa Fe
(4.2/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
A tribute to traditional Japanese hot spring resorts, Ten Thousand Waves offers spas, pools, and body treatments in a garden setting. Relax in one of the facility's hot tubs, ranging from public shared ones to specialty tubs complete with waterfalls. Later, refresh yourself in the cold plunge pool. Give some relief to aching muscles with one of the available professional massages, including deep-tissue, Thai, and hot stone. Ask, too, about facials and skin treatments. The restaurant is modeled after a Japanese eatery and features traditional grilled specialties. If you're looking for a long-term stay, accommodations and private spa rooms are available, but book early. • I love this place. The staff is so incredible. My favorite is the Buddha treat. I have never been so relaxed in my entire life and everything smells so good. this is my go-to place
  • Very nice resort style getaway for Bachelorette party, anniversary, or even honeymoon. Relaxing spa and romantic rooms. Any amenity you could ask for. The restaurant has amazing food which is served in numerous tiny courses so there are many different flavors.
  • So amazing! Hot pools out in the woods, and a massage room pretty much in the trees! I went in September and Santa Fe was getting some rain and thunderstorms. The place was a bit hard to find at first because the google location was incorrect (but Ten Thousand Waves does know about this and indicate it on their website). You enter and check in through a main gift shop area. Here you get a kimono-type robe (which was a little cold for the weather) and some slippers. The main outdoor water features are co-ed, so bathing suits are required. Some patrons complain about this (???), but I think it's great! Since the weather was cold, the steam rising off the pools was really therapeutic and wonderful. The pools were also very pleasant as it started to rain. Nature was all around us: rain, trees, mountains, some lightning in the distance. We also reserved a massage, which the staff considerately arranged for us to have together. When our appointment came, they walked us down a winding gravel path to a small little cabin surrounded by tall trees. Not only was the massage amazing, but the huge windows in the cabin made it feel like we were in the trees. After our day at the spa, we went to the restaurant and tried the omakase menu. This was a perfect way to complete the day! Little tastes of a bunch of yummy things, and some sake to go with. The spa/hotel also has a shuttle driver who will drive you to your car, which turned out to be really nice because the gravel parking lot had gotten fairly muddy since when we had first arrived.
  • Ten Thousand Waves is truly a retreat from norm life. Here you can escape from everything, treat yourself to any number of spa services, and the staff is nothing but friendly, professional, and considerate. I felt completely listened to and my pregnant wide did as well. We will both be coming back again!
  • One of the most beautiful spas in the world. The organic feel of the spaces and stunning natural setting combined with a palpable laid back vibe, make this one of the most unique "spa" experiences you'll ever have. Artisanal beauty and impeccable craftsmanship is woven into every aspect of the spa, with a special blend of eclectic elements and refined details. There really is no place like 10,000 Waves. Full disclosure, I worked at 10,000 Waves for 10 years in the 80's and 90's, but my review is more informed than biased. Today I develop spas and wellness centers as an international consultant and operator and having worked around the globe I can definitively day that 10,000 Waves is an experience that you will find no where else in the world. Worth a visit.
