  • We love chocolate and this is a one-of-a-kind Santa Fe experience with chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Most of it dark. Delightful for young and old alike. Ample sampling.Take home your favorite mix ($15). Kakawa provides a "chocolate drinking experience" and it's a good one. A bit like the hot chocolate you grew up, Kakawa's kitchen cooks up a rich international menu of flavors from spicy to sweet. Quaint interior atmosphere resembles a candy store in the country. Chocolate pieces ($3.50 each) as good or better than famous See's Candies. Kakawa is a 5-Star experience for both locals and visitors and it has its own regular customers.
  • This is review is so very overdue! The chocolate is great. The people and service are great. I had the chance to stop by during a student conference a couple of months back, and I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of visiting Santa Fe. The owner gave us a tour of his factory, and even let us sample some of his top chocolate blends. He also told us about the history of chocolate and of each product of his store. You can really tell that they put a lot of love and care towards their chocolate. Overall, it was a very delicious experience. p.s The brownies are to die for!
  • First time visitor! They offer free samples of drinking elixir and ice cream! :) we were very happy to see some reliable flavors as well as some new Mexico inspired flavors! Great place to stop and cool off!
  • Best brownie I have ever tasted. They had me at, "rivers of caramel." Also, the staff were all very attentive and sweet, and let us try several different hot chocolates, all delish.
  • Amazing chocolates, ice cream, & milkshakes! They offer several flavors of drinking chocolates and the selection changes daily. They even have dairy-free options. Yes, it is a little pricey, but worth it to try.

Where to stay in Santa Fe

Though the downtown area contains most of Santa Fe's finest hotels, you can find plenty of equally comfortable inns and motels just outside this busy central district. Remember also that most of the city's centrally located hotels raise their prices during the height of the tourist season, so it is essential to look for deals and make reservations well in advance. To experience the true spirit of outdoor New Mexico while on holiday, consider sleeping under the stars at a campground just a short drive from Santa Fe's major urban attractions.
