Enjoy unparalleled vantage points of the coastline and a butterfly preserve as you explore Natural Bridges State Beach. Located in Santa Cruz, this 26 hectare (65 acre) park is known for the natural bridge that stretches across its beach. The area remains a refuge for about 150,000 monarch butterflies between the months of October and February, which you can view as you walk the trails through the designated butterfly preserve. The site is also home to a number of hiking routes, a sandy cove, tidepools, and a bike path. • Go early if you will be there for a long time in the Park (to camping, barbeque, etc...). ASI will have place to stay. Not there much parking inside. But can leave them things and people, and then find parking outside. I AM find, PM good luck walking, lol. Don't forget the camera to take pictures. If you arrive early (~ 9 to 10 am) sees travels first by W cliff Dr. as if were for Santa Cruz. For in Surfer Memorial Beach and Lighthouse State park, but all those places that see parking. You'll have to walk to get the best portraits. If you are coming from Santa Cruz for these sites first. Remember if you come in the afternoon (1 pm to > good luck with parking if you don't get parking, looking down the street (where there are houses) but see that there is no permits parking. Recalls becomes tempered and will not have parking problem.) This place is for everyone. If they are dating and just married, I recommend that they walk and look where staying juntitos at Cliff Dr. (couples, family, friends, only). Take ~ 2 HR visiting Cliff Dr. then maybe what you want on the beach (Natural Bridge state Park). On the beach there are to pay for parking, do not attach me, because I park outside. Check in time, because you can get cold even in summer, always wear sweaters or wrap with you, ok.

  • Looking for a family trip to the beach in Santa Cruz? Look no further! Picturesque, ample parking, gentle-ish surf (occasionally bigger waves), this is a pleasure. The wind does pick up in the afterno...  read more »

  • Amazing beach. If I wasn't feeling a little under the weather I would have been splashing around and body surfing the nice waves that were rolling in. There was some really nice tide pools within a short walking distance from the beach itself. Amazing view of the coast. Discovered a nice short hike where I saw a few deer and plenty of birds. It was during beginning of summer so the monarch butterflies weren't visiting otherwise it might have somehow been even more amazing.
  • Awesome place! First, there is a parking lot (20 min max), where you can have a look at the beautiful beach an rocks. Second, the whole beach is amazing: white sand, great view, and the water wasn't so cold (end of July)! Be sure to spend at least 5-10 min at this place ;)
  • Absolutely beautiful coast line! There is beach access here. Access is either to the far right our the far left of the parking. There is access in the middle but it is a tough climb but doable! A must see while in the Santa Cruz area...
  • The beach is a bit too rocky for my tastes, but has a few great photo opportunities. There is only one natural bridge here, but on a low enough tide, you can likely walk out to it. When I visited it was high tide, so I couldn't visit the tide pools, but the waves were great to watch and listen to. Nice little romantic beach for those wanting to see a sunset and listen to the waves. Fair warning, it gets really busy at sunset, so arrive early.
  • I Work around this area so I sometimes visit natural bridges during my break. Natural bridges is a smaller beach that can get a little crowded, especially during summer, but it's no hard to see why with so many things to do. First, you can visit the seymour center nearby and learn about Santa Cruz's Ocean Ecology. Next, feel free to visit the Monarch Butterfly path which leads to a grove of tree used by the Monarch butterflies during their early migration. If you are staying for a longer period in the day there are scattered picnic tables and fire grills that can accomidate several groups of people planning on having full barbeques complete with great shade from nearby trees. Finally, once you get to the beach itself you can either spend time splashing around the main beach or climb on the rocks to the side to discover several smaller beach pockets if your group is looking for a more isolated local. All in all a very fun beach and a great destination for both locals looking for a good beach still within Santa Cruz city limits and fun for the whole family with food and scenery
