Tourist Spot Mysterious Site
Enjoy an afternoon of illusions at Mystery Spot, where it appears the laws of gravity and physics do not apply. Watch water flow backward and people stand sideways. Surveyors discovered the spot in 1939, and visitors were first invited to experience the wonder in 1940. After your topsy-turvy experience inside the house, get your footing on the hiking trail and admire the redwoods. It's wise to book tickets far in advance online or by phone. Parking is available for an additional fee. Put Mystery Spot into our Santa Cruz tour planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Santa Cruz.

  • Went with a group of friends not knowing what to expect and we had a great time! Our guide was enthusiastic and bubbly. For the small admission price, the mystery spot is a great attraction for all as...  more »
  • We visited about an hour ago (4pm on 13 June) and only had to wait a few minutes to join the 45 minute tour with Dawn + her trainee + about 12 other visitors. She is very cute and funny and her style ...  more »
  • We could not believe the crowd and full parking lot. The road in is very bumpy with lots of beautiful redwood trees. We decided not to buy a ticket and visit the inner workings because of the crowds. ...  more »

  • Worth it! Hope you get the opportunity to get IZZY as your tour guide. She's cute, funny, really funny actually and super entertaining to watch. Be sure to checkout the trail after your tour- do so at your own risk- some real elevation. Plenty of banana slugs for you to poke at!
  • Is it Magic? Magnets? Aliens? The Mystery Spot is a place that will amaze and confuse even the most intelligent of visitors and a fun little detour for anyone doing the Highway 1 trip. It is a quick jaunt off the main highway and close to quite a few attractions and close enough to restaurants to make this well worth the quick stop. Why are things at a strange angle? How do people seem to be changing height while they are there? MYSTERIES! A fun trip either for couples, people who like strange things, or those who have kids!
  • This is a small 45 min tour. Yes, it is fun for the kids, but the price of admission (and parking fee?!?!) is not worth it. Did it once with out of town guests and probably won't come back again. The short hiking trail going up the mountain is nice.
  • Fairly expensive since you do.t know what it actually is. They only charge for parking o be you buy a ticket to the attraction. If you park there and just go to the gift shop , they don't charge for parking. Seems to be a fun place for kids which is why my wife and I skipped it and will return with out kids instead
  • I came here 23 years ago and I came back again and it is still thesame and a real mysterious place and until now I cannot figure out. Anyways the tour guide did an awesome job as always. It's a wonderful experience and highly recommend. And I will come back again maybe in another 23 years...
