Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz

(3.9/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy an afternoon of illusions at Mystery Spot, where it appears the laws of gravity and physics do not apply. Watch water flow backward and people stand sideways. Surveyors discovered the spot in 1939, and visitors were first invited to experience the wonder in 1940. After your topsy-turvy experience inside the house, get your footing on the hiking trail and admire the redwoods. It's wise to book tickets far in advance online or by phone. Parking is available for an additional fee. Put Mystery Spot into our Santa Cruz tour planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Santa Cruz.

  • Stopped by here a few days ago with a group of 3 as a last minute idea for something to do in Santa Cruz before heading home. It's probably best to make reservations, especially if you have a bigger g...  more »
  • The Mystery Spot is located in the redwood forest just outside of Santa Cruz. It was a fun thing to do and I think kids would enjoy the illusion. Tour guides have good sense of humor. It doesn't take ...  more »

  • I have been putting off for years to visit this place. After a decade and a half of procrastinating, I finally decided to go. I booked 5 tickets online and had to reschedule the time due to a last minute errand I had to take care of. Staff was quick and kind when they rescheduled my booking over the telephone. The place is very interesting, not just the main attraction but, the surrounding area as well. The tour was rather short. Now that I have been here, I can say that it is definitely worth visiting. However, don't expect anything super exciting to be talking about after you have visited the place.
  • A tourist spot that seems to be there forever. I've been going to this place for decades. Over the years, it has gone through some impressive transformation, now presentable even for international tourists. The spot does have its intriguing entertaining value, for curious minds large or small. Prepare to spent 1.5-2 hours here. A worthwhile attraction for sure.
  • You tend to spend a wonderful time to be here at this Mystery Spot. The Guided tour really gives you an interesting experience of a Natural Phenomenon that can occur. The Tour guide ensures that everyone is involved and listens to the Story behind the place. Make sure you visit it and enjoy the gravitational pull and its force that we forget in our daily life..
  • This is a great spot to come with visiting Family member or a friend from another place. Some of the things happening here are weird but a great and fun experience, don;t miss this place.
  • Very sympathetic and funny guide, he's great with kids. Place is good to take some cool 'mystery' shots... Tour was a little overcrowded, not from every angle you can see the abnormalities...
