3.8/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web
Enjoy an afternoon of illusions at Mystery Spot, where it appears the laws of gravity and physics do not apply. Watch water flow backward and people stand sideways. Surveyors discovered the spot in 1939, and visitors were first invited to experience the wonder in 1940. After your topsy-turvy experience inside the house, get your footing on the hiking trail and admire the redwoods. It's wise to book tickets far in advance online or by phone. Parking is available for an additional fee. Put Mystery Spot into our Santa Cruz tour planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Santa Cruz.

  • The Mystery Spot is not a place you want to go out of your way for but if you are in the Santa Cruz area, it is a quirky point of interest and well worth the 8 bucks per person (+5 bucks for parking). Like most tour based attractions your mileage may vary depending on your guide. We got an especially humorous one so we had a great time. Parking lot is small and access is through a very tight bumpy one lane road. Make sure you arrive half an hour early like they say. Remember the Spot's power is only exceeded by it's mystery...
  • I have seen this only once and i like the idea of illusion that is visually created with leaning trees and cabins that is rumored as gravitation anomaly associated with this place. However I find it a one time visit for kids only. It is quite a long drive to reach this site but your internal tour will be just over in 30 mins.Though you will have to wait in queue if you have not made reservations before you leave. Weekends are pretty busy and I recommend booking trip online before visiting. For adults I don't see much that will appeal to grown up minds. But its a good trip for family and kids. This place is cheap 5$ per person. The waiting time can go over 3-4 hours and you might find the nearby attraction like Roaring Camp and Bear mountain more worth your time but not money.I could finish both Santa Cruz beach and Roaring Camp Railroad in a day with plenty of time at hand. If you are doing mystery spot in the same trip if recommend you leave early and plan before hand on tickets and reservation for the site.
  • Not a great mystery. A few demostrations are brain tweezers. If you are in SFO tou can visit it.
  • It's fun, cheap, nice weather beats Modesto. Great picnic lunch with my sweet grand daughter. We both had a great day. You should all go!
  • Was looking for something different to do in the area and we found it! Quirky but fun place to check out. Reasonable prices and very nice tour guides. You must reserve your spot ahead of time online!
