  • This place reminded me of a car rental office that decided to throw in wine tasting. Gaudy decorations. Inconvenient areas to wine taste. Ambivalent staff. Ok wine. Would not go back.  more »
  • Enjoyed the great wines, California sunshine and listening to Andy on the patio on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Wide variety of lovely wines.  more »
  • This was our last stop on our wine tour. Our tour guide must have purposely saved the best for last. Our tour guide at MJA was Sheri and she was fantastic. She knows her stuff and is the most sincere ...  more »

  • Great wines and generous tasting pours. Spent an hour talking to the owner and his son. Both very knowledgeable and friendly. Come to find out we had a lot in common. They are from the Big Island of Hawaii. The tasting room is done in a Island them. Very nice.
  • Very nice afternoon tasting generous pours great wines and hospitality
  • Excellent wines, excellent staff, always a pleasure to come to MJA. Marin, John, Ford, all the folks always take the time to really talk about what they are pouring in a way that is unpretentious and always educational. I love the nicknames - Hotflash, Still Horny - the sense of humor and the Aloha spirit is everywhere. These folks work really hard to create an excellent product and an excellent experience. Movie nights are super fun, often there is live music, and we always meet the most interesting and intelligent people. Their tasting room on the summit also rocks!
  • One of our favorite wineries! This place is a tasting room where they also throw events. The staff is run by the owners and they are very friendly. Cannot recommend this place enough! Try their flights (very generous) and their food (chocolate covered coffee beans are amazing).
  • Went here once. Was completely ignored by staff. Stood around waiting asked a couple people how do I go about doing a tasting. 15 minutes of no help I left. Thought it was because of the way I looked or something? Even though I had hundred dollar bills in my pocket.

Where to stay in Santa Cruz

Most of the accommodations in Santa Cruz occupy a place near the beach and boardwalk. Inns and bed and breakfasts make up most of the selection here, but you'll also find a few motels and hotels sprinkled in. You might consider staying in one of the inns or bed and breakfasts located inside some of the Victorian houses downtown, which lies just to the north. A number of budget motels line both San Lorenzo Boulevard, which is just across Carbonara Creek from the main tourist area by the beach, and Ocean Street a little farther north.
