Shoreline Park, a long, narrow ocean-side strip of land on top of a mesa (i.e. coastal bluff), is located in Santa Barbara, California, United States. Facing the Pacific Ocean, Shoreline Park is one of Santa Barbara's most popular parks.Park FacilitiesThe park includes a playground, picnic area, a whale watching area with a telescope situated next to a statue of a large concrete whale tail, as well as a sister city Japanese garden. The park also provides a clear view of the Channel Islands on a good day, and Gray Whale may be observed during their migration months, along with a number of marine mammals including dolphins and seals.A Torii gateway atop the bluff leads to a wooden staircase descending to the tidal beach about 53ft feet below, which is completely submerged during high tide and accessible only during low tide. During the low tide periods, the adjacent Leadbetter Beach and Arroyo Burro Beach (aka Hendry's Beach) are accessible to the east and west, respectively.

This is a wonderful park, so clean and nicely groomed. Great for a sunrise walk and the best views of the ocean. We found this park by mistake. Be sure to get out of the car and check out the beach below via the staircase down to the water at mid park. We went down at low tide. Lots of plant life and sea life to explore! And great for picture taking too!

Nice park. Great views. Awesome sunsets that you shouldn't miss. Plenty of lookout points where you can get unobstructed views of the ocean.

Great for families and dogs (on leash). The view of the ocean is great and you commonly get great additions like sailboats or dolphins for your pictures. A great place to be outdoors and walk around for a bit.

Meandering pathways and green, spaces overlooking the beach. Great for a family bike ride or walking the dog. What's not to love?

Where to stay in Santa Barbara

Blessed with a mild climate and lush location, Santa Barbara remains a playground for the rich and famous, so it's no surprise that accommodations can be extremely expensive here. The priciest hotels are near the water, so before you make your reservations, decide if staying beachside fits into your budget. You can find more affordable rooms at any one of the area's small motels, located just blocks from the beaches. These offer secure parking, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi.
