  • It is certainly one of the finest collections of orchids in the country with several thousand different species aligned under large greenhouses in an informal way and unfortunately inadequately labelled and documented. There are species from around the world, but the big local specialty seems to be the Cymbidium, the Catteleyas and Laelias of California, but there is also a wonderful specimens from the Mexico, the Brazil and Central America. Admission is free and you're a little delivered to you, which is too bad, because such a show called lots of questions. It's really a set of beauty and it is curious that the travel guides do so little State. On the other hand, this has its advantages because we were pretty much alone in these huge greenhouses where it should not be easy to cross in case of heavy traffic! Finally, I'm, not a specialist, but the price, when they were posted, have seemed me both very cheap and affordable for some superb and frighteningly expensive species for others rather disappointing in view!

Where to stay in Santa Barbara

Blessed with a mild climate and lush location, Santa Barbara remains a playground for the rich and famous, so it's no surprise that accommodations can be extremely expensive here. The priciest hotels are near the water, so before you make your reservations, decide if staying beachside fits into your budget. You can find more affordable rooms at any one of the area's small motels, located just blocks from the beaches. These offer secure parking, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi.
