Where to stay in Santa Barbara

Blessed with a mild climate and lush location, Santa Barbara remains a playground for the rich and famous, so it's no surprise that accommodations can be extremely expensive here. The priciest hotels are near the water, so before you make your reservations, decide if staying beachside fits into your budget. You can find more affordable rooms at any one of the area's small motels, located just blocks from the beaches. These offer secure parking, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi.

  • There is a ton of information here, and it's all super interesting. Ranging from the native culture, before European influence, to modern fishing industry, surfing history, and even some boat model history. The only issue I had with the place is there isn't really a "flow" to it. There are a number of interactive exhibits I didn't get to that looked fun. If you want to be thorough and see everything plan on 3 hours, there's so much to read.
  • Small but nice Maritime Museum about diving, fishing and anything about the sea around Santa Barbara, including important Events in their history (like accident/ship-wreck). There is a corner for children where they can learning about the sea/fishes. Several TV Screens showing short Video presentations. Also there is a small shop where you can buy books and other Merchandising. Nice place to learn something about the "sea-life" of Santa Barbara
  • Great museum, and location. Amazing view from the lookout on the top floor. Very grumpy volunteer at the door. Inside staff/volunteers along with the gift shpt personal were very helpful and friendly.
  • Wonderful museum. Very interesting, with a few interactive displays. Not large, but worth the money to me. Also, you get in free if you are active duty military, which was handy for me.
  • Walked by this place a number of times..finally went in and was amazed on what I missed . It's worth the time for sure.
