Where to stay in Santa Barbara

Blessed with a mild climate and lush location, Santa Barbara remains a playground for the rich and famous, so it's no surprise that accommodations can be extremely expensive here. The priciest hotels are near the water, so before you make your reservations, decide if staying beachside fits into your budget. You can find more affordable rooms at any one of the area's small motels, located just blocks from the beaches. These offer secure parking, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi.

  • Would have liked to have actually toured the place, but the front desk welcome center service was non existent. We walked in, and for 20 minutes nobody was manning the register to take our fee. Ok, so...  more »
  • If you like history then this is worth a visit. It doesn't seem to be very popular which can work to your advantage.  more »
  • You get some great photos and views from here. Beautiful building, and not far from the Orange Tree Inn  more »

  • Interesting place to visit. Did not appreciate the docent needing to share her current political opinions while she spun wool. Not only was it out of character, it was distasteful and inappropriate.
  • What a cool place to visit! Stumbled into 200 years ago by accident. Meeting the chickens in the garden is a nice surprise! This historic park offers a real glimpse of what life was like in the 1800s. None of that commercialized revitalization attempts.
  • Old, historic yet beautifully reatored.
  • Interesting and lovely area to learn about and view things about in early Spanish life in California
  • They are selling you a dream that one day this reconstruction will complete, please use your imagination in the mean time. There's no actual artifacts and no actual value, just some random stuff probably picked up from a yard sale. This is no doubt the most pointless destination on this trip. Two stars for giving them credit on squeezing any possible tourism value off a some old lot.
