  • This is a great little park that is outside of the city. It has a play ground, BBQ pit areas, and a lake for fishing, hiking trails and if you are into geocaching there are hides along the trails.
  • This park has paddle boats, an amphitheater, picnic area, camping facilities, and even an outdoor chapel. The bridge is my most favorite place to sit and contemplate.
  • This is a beautiful park that offers its visitors several outdoors activities including camping, fishing, paddleboats and hiking. I'm not sure if they have rebuilt the building that burnt down. It off...  read more »
  • One of the best mountain bike trails in the low-lands of North Carolina. Great single track with a lot of technical parts and varying terrain. Some climbs.
  • My fiancé and I visited this park yesterday (3/15/16). It was the first time I had ever been there, and I must say the park is GORGEOUS! However, we had walked further than planned, and were late coming back for close. The ranger (unsure of his name) was horribly rude about it, he saw how far out we were didn't bother to check if we were okay. Claims to have called the Sheriff to give him my plate number, said if I was late again in the park that there would be trouble. Threatened that he was about to have my car towed. I actually hurt myself trying to rush back, because he was so pushy. He was EXTREMELY confrontational with my fiancé, including putting his hand on his gun, when my fiancé told him that the streets had taught him to be prepared too (the ranger made the comment that "if there is one thing the Marines taught me it was always to be prepared." As he followed a step behind my fiancé to the car door.) I felt VERY threatened by this ranger, and I will NOT be returning to this park!!
  • Fantastic park, it's clean, plenty of shade and has great views.
  • We had planned to camp here, as the park is not far off NC bike route 5 and the alternative (nearby Raven Rock State Park) requires a couple miles of hike-in to the campsites. We ended up not staying here because of the ranger, who has policies that differ from those on the website. We had a hard time finding the ranger to check-in, and even called his number and left a message, but didn't hear back. When we did find him, he accused us of previously vandalizing the park (never been there before), and had a policy that the gate is locked at 6pm, no one in or out (different from website). As we planned on buying food in town for dinner, that was a no-go, and we happily left. The park has potential, and a lot of people were there fishing, but if you want to camp, you'll have to deal with Ranger Steve and it's not worth it.
  • I've been going here for years. My favorite is the wide trails and the paddle boats !!
