Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, Sanford
(3.1/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens houses a small zoo in a tropical tree-filled setting that also features a tree-to-tree aerial course, water playground, miniature railway, and carousel. Visit the zoo and feed the giraffes, wander through the herpertarium to see reptiles and amphibians, and see the fossa, the largest predatory animal of Madagascar. In the adventure park, a zipline course runs through the tree canopy, allowing you to view the world as tree-dwelling animals do. Bring your swimsuit and cool off in the Wharton-Smith tropical splash ground. A little train takes you along a 1.6 km (1 mi) track through wetlands, woods, and a long tunnel. • Visited the zoo today and enjoyed the animals that all seemed to be moving about because of the cooler temperatures. The baby monkeys were the most active and fun to watch. We look forward to the blac...  more »
  • I finally went there and it was a mistake.. I probably saw only few animals there... small zoo.. not much going on.
  • No this is not a large zoo but it's nicely laid out and comfortable to visit. We went with a Meet Up Group and all 9 people that were there had great fun. In addition to walking about and seeing every...  more »

  • I only gave it one star because there was no choice to give it no stars. For the price you pay to get in there it should take more than 45 minutes to get through the entire Zoo. No animals to look at if I want to look at frogs, snakes and things like that I'll just walk the woods behind my house it's free. Everything the kids wanted to see had a sign on it staying it was temporarily off exhibit. Just a sad-sad zoo. Very disappointing. Save your money going to a park for free was better than going to that Zoo. From start to finish it took 45 minutes. I heard more people complain then have an excitement about anything. Will never go back. There's no point in having a year pass unless you're paying to let the kids play in the water..
  • Get a pass! Come back again and again. The splash pad is great. Everything is well maintained. Kids love the petting zoo and the playground. We always have lots of fun here. Extensive ropes course as you walk in. Has a train ride and bungee jumps (all for extra money).
  • A very nice zoo. Pleasant, winding boardwalks, and a small petting/feeding area for kids. There were lots of activities for kids; a splash pad, playground, carousel, train ride, and scaled down zip line. ( A higher, longer zip line is there for us big kids) Butterfly area, two snack bars, and lots of different animal habitats.
  • Good place for kids to be with. Although my kid enjoyed the kids water play zone more than the zoo. There is a small train joy ride at the entrance. Adults and kids both can enjoy the same. But this is outside the Zoo and not inside. A similar tram/train ride for moving inside the zoo would have been a really nice thing.
  • Always improving the experience and adding new attractions. Amazing atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Bring your kiddos bathing suit when weather permits, the splash pad is awesome.
