  • Out of the ordinary to say the least. That doesn't mean bad, just different. Lots of blind shots over areas that look like the badlands of SD. But a real test of golf skills. They have some special ru...  more »

  • This course is one of the few courses that provide the beauty, challenge, and uniqueness that make it memorable for a life time. Having played golf for over 30 years and in 6 different countries I can say that this is a course that I will remember. Like others have mentioned, the guidebook is an invaluable resource to have, even with a sky caddie. It will show you where to hit the ball and more importantly where to not hit it. If you do happen to find one of the well manicured and often sloping fairways, your fun is just beginning. The greens are some of the most challenging I have ever played. Fast and with some serious elevation changes. I can honestly say that I have never four putted a green until I played here on Saturday, and I managed to four putt twice out there. My only real criticisms of this course are that it is sometimes difficult to figure out where the next tee box was because it wasn't marked that well and that you only get a small bag of range balls (maybe 15-20) for $4. Other than that this course is exceptional and I can't wait to test it again to see if I can improve on the 83 I shot out there.
  • Our group of misfits annually torture ourselves here and at Tot Hill Farms, another Strantz masterpiece. TR is always in tip-top shape and the staff is excellent. A statement by my buddy's brother on his first visit here pretty much sums up what to expect from your initial impression and later reflections. He said "I can see why you want to play here, but why would you want to come back?" Of course he now plays here annually, driving from Cincinnati! Who knew torture could be so fun?
  • This course lived up to the praise my experienced golf partner had sold us on. Due to cold weather we could not use our replay, but management helped us secure a tee off the next day to replace another local course. The $1 guide book is well worth a study before each tee shot. I hope to return soon
  • One of my favorite courses. Have played 8 rounds over six years when we have our golf trip in North Carolina. Never had less than a very positive experience with the staff. Course is very visually intimidating but plays straight forward. If you don't hit your spots and end up the waste areas, expect a challenge. Play the tees that match your handicap and you can score on this course.
  • Always a pleasure with great course maintenance. Wouldn't want to play every day, and it seems to be missing only a windmill and a clowns head on a couple holes, but it is a must play course when in the area.
