  • The 3/4 mile walk up to the chapel, viewing the several bronze sculptures of the Stations of the Cross along the path, is very worthwhile and, for many, would be very moving. It's pretty much the thing to do in San Luis. Do it in a cool part of the day as the path is in full sun. The handsome little chapel is very pleasant inside and a nice bonus.
  • We visited around noon and did not realize the walk would end up ascending 140 ft in elevation. It is a very pleasant hike and easy enough for most people as they have places to sit along the way if needed. The sculptures are incredible and it is worth the visit. The restroom at the top is not functioning so I recommend stopping at the visitor center across the street prior to your visit.
  • This place is great for a little pilgrimage. Moving sculptures and scripture explaining each scene of Jesus's passion. Must start at the bottom accessible from the highway to begin at the 1st Station. You can drive up a dirt road to the chapel where the 15th Station is (Resurrection added) but if you want to do the Stations in order you will have to walk down. The path is gravel, very easy trail and the whole journey is probably less than a half mile.
  • Beautiful shrine with spectacular views - very peaceful area. The sculptures of the Station of the Cross are impressive. A must see.
  • This is worth the detour. You can drive up to the top, but I recommend walking the path. It is a beautiful view on the walk and a reverent reminder of the sacrifice Christ made for us. The Shrine was closed due to some damage that had been done, but we still got a lot out of the experience.
