  • lots of goats to pet, a nice produce stand an a deli and sweet shop. Service was good, as were prices.
  • A neat place to take kids. There are farm animals, a sweet shop to buy treats or lunch type food. There are fresh fruits and veggies available. It is a cross between a farmers market and gourmet shop....  more »

  • Avila Valley barn is a serious gym on the Central Coast! They always have something fun going on and a set up for kids. They have a little tractor ride as well as lots of animals that you can feed. There is an ice cream shop and sandwich shop. And then the best thing they have is roasted corn on the cob with a bunch of different sauces you can use. They have great places to take family pictures and there's barbecue here as well much of the time. They have a big country farmer's market and gift shop in the center of the place and you will find tons of local fun fancy stuff. The biggest treat of the gift shop is the pies! You can't beat their pies! They have the best pies you have ever had in your life! I'm going down today to get one Frozen that I can hold till Thanksgiving. They have both Frozen and fresh. They make them all themselves. Oh did I tell you anything about their pies? They have really great pies. So don't miss coming here and make sure you bring an appetite when you do. Whenever I eat one of their pies I think of that movie star man from the eighties with Jeff Bridges. If you remember it and you'll remember a scene where he eats a piece of pie in a diner and he's just overcome with emotion. He was overcome with emotion and it wasn't even one of the Avila Valley barn pies! Oh if Jeff Bridges had one of these pies!
  • Always a great time at the Barn! The kids love feeding the animals. The produce and flowers are always great! We love getting ice cream at the sweet shoppe! I highly recommend stopping and checking it out! 😀👍
  • Love this place! It has some great baked goods and you can never go wrong with a roasted corn on the cob! My husband also loves their pastrami on marble rye at the deli. Lots of animals for the kids to enjoy. Clean facilities with friendly staff!
  • Great place to visit if you are just passing thru or have lived in the area for a while. There is a petting zoo area that you or the kids to interact with the animals. They have roasted corn on the cob, fresh jams/jellies,fresh fruit, vegetables, pies, breads and they have an ice cream parlor which they make themselves. A must stop in place to visit. Fun for all ages.
  • I took my son there to get pumpkins. It was not raining and I wasn't expecting rain. It was drizzling a little from time to time and that was fine. We went in their shops during those times. My son wanted a pie and then I saw the price and at $25 I about fell over. I did notice the place had increased their retail space but they also increased their prices - WAY TOO high! I found no one to help us when I did find something I was interested in so I put the item down and decided to just focus on the pumpkins. My son and I took great care in picking the pumpkins we wanted. I let my son decide on both. He sat on a chair with the pumpkins while I obtained a cart to carry them to be weighed. He found just the right ones with the perfect stems. Keep in mind there were TONS of signs up to tell people to stay OFF the pumpkins and not NOT pick the pumpkins up BY THE STEMS! That being said, we got to the counter and the girl that was the cashier IMMEDIATELY picked up the first pumpkin BY THE STEM and it SNAPPED OFF! First of all, SERIOUSLY? We were stunned and speechless. Keep in mind its late in the season so the choices were not as great as in the beginning. SHE ACTUALLY ASKED if we still wanted it! We were both STILL SPEECHLESS. I said, I didn't imagine I needed to tell someone who worked here NOT to pick up the pumpkin by the stem. She yelled out to a supervisor (an older woman who appeared to be an owner) and that woman said WHAT DO YOU EXPECT the stems are soft from the rain. Still stunned, I did my best to assure my son didn't cry. He was very upset. He took great care in choosing these 2 pumpkins ($25 for both). She wanted to know what she could do for us! I looked at her with dismay as it AT THIS POINT started to OUT AND OUT RAIN! She informed us we could pick another!?!?!?! IN THE RAIN.... FYI, we took care in NOT picking pumpkins that had soft stems from the rain! We did out best to shelter ourselves from the rain but were in utter disbelief at the number of people CLIMBING ALL OVER the pumpkins to take photos. HE FINALLY found 2 more pumpkins he was interested. We went BACK to the counter and instead of saying to the people there that we were already in line but had to pick another for HER ERROR in breaking our last one, she made us WAIT for the people in line to be finished. I SAID, Can't you get help? FINALLY after all this she got a girl in the SHOP to help. It was absolutely mind boggling when I simply wanted to have a nice experience and MEMORY BUILDER with my son. We never saw a wagon come for the hay rides and the straw maze was too wet. People were climbing on places that common sense should have told them NOT to if they were UNABLE TO READ THE HUGE SIGNS! We should have been offered SOME FORM of consolation, but were not. We thought we would end the experience by taking some photos at their sign and set up FOR photos. I took a photo and was getting ready to take another when 3 young people jumped IN FRONT OF MY SON. I said, I'm IN THE MIDDLE OF TAKING Photos. We are NOT DONE. The young Mexican people looked at me with such rudeness and disdain and were physically threatening. I felt scared. I took a hurried selfie of myself and my son and left. Needless to say you can tell my photo was fast and even the expression on our faces was one of concern and not joy! We will NEVER go back to this establishment. The lasting memory we carry is NOT a positive one!
