  • This was a great way to spend a few quiet hours. The Ansel Adams photography was the reason I visited and it didn't disappoint. The other exhibits were very thought provoking. The gift shop had lots o...  more »
  • San Jose is not known for its fine arts, but this little museum does a great job of showcasing interesting, diverse art forms. From small shows, such as a Milton Rogovin photo exhibit, to larger exhib...  more »
  • For the size of the city of San Jose, I'd consider this to be a small museum. But the displays I've seen have been well worth the trip, and it's pretty inexpensive $10 without a coupon. I've paid WAY ...  more »

  • Often overlooked by people wanting to go into SF to the bigger museums but definitely worth a visit. They don't have a stellar permanent collection but they get some interesting exhibits and offer some truly wonderful family/community programs in conjunction with cultural events like Chinese New Year. Nice gift shop and cafe area too. Unfortunately there isn't too much else downtown nearby to see ( except restaurants and the Tech if you have kids)but SJMA is worth a visit all on it's own. Staff are always very friendly and helpful!
  • A small art museum. The staff is quite nice. But I think the museum can be better with more area/things.
  • Great artwork that rotates often. Take full advantage of free days. Always a cool spot to hangout with friends and family on cold or very hot days. Place is huge and lots of activities in summer are planned.
  • the exhibits were very powerful and moving - i especially enjoyed the darkened mirror exhibit. the staff are very friendly and have a wonderful sense of humor!
  • Their exhibitions are always fascinating. I appreciate their "sense of place" . . . while certainly not the largest museum in the Bay Area, they do a great job exploring the intersections of technology, culture and identity in a way that is deeply relevant in San Jose. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The events are great as well... ArtRage, classes, gallery talks... They are definitely worth checking out.
