I want to live out of a tent on the lawns of Yerba Buena Gardens. I wish to fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the waterfall, bask in the sun with a good read, and practice my tango under the pale ...  more »

This park is right behind the Moscone convention center. What a wonderful find in the middle of the city. Yes there is golden gate park on the other side of town, but for visitors with no car, it's de...  more »

I wouldn't go out of my way to see these gardens but if in this side of San Francisco it's cool to look up and be surrounded by the big buildings. It's free to the public and a pretty space that sometimes also has art or concets. If you're going to take the cable cars from Market Street head one street over and walk through the garden and maybe get some tea or food at one of the bordering restaurants. Good place for a couple to just relax. Also near the museums. Depending on how relaxing you could spend from 15 minutes to an hour here.

Huge breathing space in the midst of tall buildings. There is a waterfalls/fountains to complement the greenery all around you. The view of the skyline of SanFo is breathtaking. When we were here, we enjoyed local artists performing at a concert on their stage. Chill and dine at any of the upper dining establishments. Perfect for lovers!

Wonderful spot to stop and relax. On warm days expect to see some sunbathers. There are musical performances sometimes on the performance stage.

Nice area to relax and people watch. I definitely recommend visiting this park as it's situated in the busy area of the city and a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of everything in San Francisco.

Very cool place to visit whether you are a local or tourist. They frequently have free concerts there, and all I have attended have been very good.

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
