  • The Red Blossom has long been one of our favorite tea shops in Chinatown. On our last visit, they wanted $30 per person for a tea tasting session. Not sure how well that is going to fly over time.  more »
  • They offer a great selection of teas and want to make sure you leave with one you really like. If you aren't sure where to start, ask one of the workers and they'll guide you through the different var...  more »
  • Beautiful store. Though it is in full Chinatown has nothing of folklore, indeed looks minimalist and modern style. In addition to selling dozens of different types of tea, organize a demonstration/tasting of three different types of tea, during which explains the characteristics of different types of tea, according to the Chinese region of origin. The girl holding the demonstration is very competent and explains clearly. Also the Teas that are offered in the tasting are great. For each offer three small cups. The whole show is very interesting and the dimostratrice responds comprehensively to the questions. I asked if all tea drinking does not suffer from insomnia and said she now suffer from insomnia if they drank! We then made purchases of different kinds of tea. Absolutely a must!

  • I first shopped here twenty years ago. Every time I enjoyed my preferred tea (green and white) and learned something new. Yesterday Sebastian and the lady whose name I didn't catch taught us how to aerate for tasting quality and how to hot or cold brew white tea buds. They explained the sources of flavor in white tea buds, leaves, green tea, and black tea.
  • Very helpful staff. They even provided a tea tasting of their selection, with precision and patience. It was a cool experience.
  • My favourite place to buy high-quality loose-leaf tea in the city
  • Been buying tea from Red Blossom for a few years now. High quality tea for a reasonable price. Good service too!
  • All the usual food and gift items you'll find all over San Francisco's Chinatown. Prices are good and they do have quite a selection of snack foods.

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
