Presidio of San Francisco, San Francisco

(1,200+ reviews on the web)
Historic Site
It may come as a surprise that Presidio of San Francisco, the oldest continuously used military base in the country, also boasts acres upon acres of beautiful parkland. Despite its military involvement, the area is filled with forests, creeks, and walking trails where you can escape the urban bustle. Seek out hills with excellent views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the city, and the ocean. Get a dose of history with a tour the cfficers' club, a historical building once used for U.S. Army officers and their families to socialize. If you aren't sure what to do first, get a map and more information from the staff at the visitor's center. • One of the top San Francisco parks. Good for walking, biking and hanging out. Several good restaurants in the park, nice event venues, and views of the golden gate Bridge. Off the grid on Sundays are a great activity on a sunny day.
  • Huge park with beautiful scenery. I find something new every time I there go to explore.
  • Love this place. A must do when you visit San Francisco. You have the beautiful view of Palace of fine arts, Alcatraz, Angel island, Sausalito and Golden Gate from here.
  • Historic. Beautiful. Nothing more can be said. OH except traffic can be horrific if its a weekend or holiday.
  • One of my favorite places to bike to from Oakland. Great views, good climbs, good food nearby, and beautiful historical sites. Whats not to like?
