  • The cars of the cable cars of the two lines that make the terminus at Powell St. are unidirectional, so at the end of the race should make reversing the direction of travel. Are pushed up to a turntable which is turned by pushing it by hand, as long as the vehicle does not rotate by 180┬░ and is pushed, by hand, until the new track. The same thing happens to the two terminus near the sea. Definitely a singular operation and very touristy. Coaches of the third line of cable car, one that runs through California St., are bidirectional and arrived at the end of its travel, pass on the other platform thanks to an Exchange, reversing the direction of travel.

  • Very cool this tour. A little uncomfortable but worth it. Crosses the city and has wonderful views.

  • It was a great trip with the Cable Cars. If you want to do this trip, make sure to have plenty of time and some money. On a Sunday around noon we spent 1 hour waiting to get into the Cable Car. But it...  more »

  • The line. Plan on an hour in line at least. Our wait was an hour and a half midday on Saturday. The cable cars sitting there spacing their departures out so far is annoying and confusing to the people in line. But the cars leave every 10 to 15 minutes. Powell Hyde is the busier car. If you want on Powell Mason it may be easier to walk up a block the the first stop to get on.
  • You must visit when in san francisco. It's like come back to the past.
  • What tourist visit is complete without a ride on the famous cable cars. Convenient way to kill two birds with one stone by taking it to the top of Lombard St.
  • Lot's of fun. The wait was a little long but worth it. Witty banter from our cable car pilot!
  • Awesome experience and great opportunity to see a San Francisco attraction. The end of the ride is close to Lombard street, good for a combo. Long line, you will waste time there if you go in a rush hour.
