Nob Hill, San Francisco

(4.4/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Explore the elegant neighborhood of Nob Hill, boasting superb views and a location conveniently close to downtown San Francisco. A few charred stone walls around the area serve as a testament to its destruction during an earthquake and fires in 1906. Historically an upper-class quarter, it remains so today, boasting a striking cathedral and hotel rebuilt after the earthquake--plus one dizzyingly steep street. The sharp inclines throughout the neighborhood can be a challenge, but cable cars will help you along the way. After sightseeing, explore the many popular restaurants, clubs, and bars, or relax outside in the city parks. Use our San Francisco travel itinerary maker to add Nob Hill and other attractions to your San Francisco vacation plans.

  • Great to walk around but be prepared for some physical exertion since Nob Hill really is hilly. Beautiful views especially on a nice day and lots of iconic San Francisco architecture.
  • We stayed on Nob Hill and walked up to the Cathedral which is beautiful. We use the cable cars to travel up and down the hill, which has beautiful views of the bay and the streets as you pass by!
  • This is a must visit for some of the best views of the city. Fantastic vistas looking down steep streets to all corners of the city. For the athletic, I would recommend tackling the steepest slopes in...  more »
