Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.

  • Family friendly service that is perfect for kids of any age. Be careful of the mirror face plant and try not to laughter too had when it happens to your friend. You go through pretty quickly but it's ...  more »
  • Many of the attractions on pier 39 are over priced and touristy, but this one is well worth the $5. You get completely lost in the mirror images.  more »
  • Kids enjoyed it more than me. It's not the largest maze I've been to and we finished it very quickly.  more »

  • Yesterday walking in there was no one at the counter, the glove trash was overflowing, and the place had a strange smell to it. The gentleman at the front desk seemed annoyed that so many people came while he was gone. He let large groups of people enter the vicinity making it crowded and hard to move inside. It looked like a cool little maze, and its close to where I work. Might give it another chance in the future if they clean this place up a bit.
  • It was fun, but it's short. For only being five dollars a person though, it's not bad.
  • Thank you yelpers for recommending this place! Really good time for only 5 bucks! I dragged my mother with me through this which actually made it more fun mainly because she has NO directional sense and gets scared :) You pay up front and then put on plastic, bakery style gloves and make your way through the maze as many times as you want! It was super disorienting at first but once you figure out some tricks, it's really not that difficult. We made it through in like 5 or 10 minutes. I know that that sounds short, but when you're in an awesome place like Pier 39 which has SO much to see, you have the attention span of a 3 year old anyway, so why not? Any longer or more difficult than that would've probably made it tiring.
  • Small but totally worth the $5 gives you and friends a challenge. Perfect date or mini photo shoot location.
  • Big fun! Well done on the floors! Helps a bunch with the illusion.
