  • My adult sons and their families were here for Thanksgiving week, and nine of us went to Madame Tussaud's in San Francisco (not quite enough for a group rate). It was EXPENSIVE but we thought it would...  more »
  • The good thing about this MT is that when we went it was dead, so we could walk around and enjoy it rather than loads of people taking pictures and getting in the way. Overall a great attraction espec...  more »
  • Obviously there are many Madame Tussaud’s around the world and they all run the same kind of way. San Francisco is smaller than many but filled with figures, with a very American focus. It’s wonderful...  more »

  • It's a nice place to take your family at but the price is too much for walk-in. You are better of buying deals from groupon. A guy takes pictures before you enter the main hall where the statues are but all his pictures turn out dark. No effort whatsoever to make them look better. They also removed some of the statues.
  • Somewhat disappointing, we have been to Madame Tusaudes all over the country ( it's become one of our "things" when traveling) this had the least amount of figures out of any that we had been to. We like to see some of the more historical figures ( past presidents, historical figures etc) and this one just had around 3. Not many celebrities either. Not sure if the lack of figures is due to a space constraint or not. The ones in Las Vegas and DC are the better ones.
  • Bought tickets at 8:40 pm. We were assured the museum would be open for 1 hour after. My 6 year old daughter needed the restroom. We were told downstairs that they were closed and to go else where.
  • Exhibits look so real and you can make your own wax hand (extra $). But it's pretty small.
  • It was so much fun especially getting to use the props they have so you can use them to take great pictures

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
