  • Old money ruled here at the time of the Great Quake, today its vestiges remain. Locals frequent the area, many walk dogs. That shabby dressed older man may have zillions of bucks. Enjoy!  more »
  • The park is just in front of Grace Cathedral and a very welcoming place to relax and take a deep breath after walking uphill is you choose instead of a tram ride to Nob Hill. Just across the park is a...  more »
  • A place to take a break . With all the walking up and down the hills of San Francisco, this is a great place take a break and catch your breath on a sunny day. This seems to be a local favorite as man...  more »

  • This Nob Hill locale is the closest park to my apartment, so I come here quite a bit. It's a single square block in size and is surrounded by such iconic landmarks as the Grace Cathedral, the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins (where the legendary Top of the Mark cocktail lounge is located), and the Pacific-Union Club. The centerpiece of the park is a beautiful fountain that's lit up at night. A good place to take your dog, too.
  • Beautiful park. Found this place by accident honestly. Serene area that's wonderful for taking your dogs for a walk or bringing kids to the playground. Basically a place where you can sit down on one of the many benches, open up a book and be at peace.
  • Nice play area for kids. Just don't let your children venture onto the grassy areas. Irresponsible dog owners leave poop landmines.
  • Huntington Park is part of "old San Francisco", iconic and historical, a must-visit, as well as the Scarlet Huntington Hotel and Grace Cathedral on its south-west corner.
  • Great place for all ages. Located across from Grace Cathedral, this historic park has been given a facelift in the gated area of the children's playground, work on the water fountain, and the holiday lights filling the many trees. There is wheelchair accessibility, free wi-fi, and dog-high fountains. There is no dedicated parking.

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
