Grand View Park, also referred to as Turtle Hill by local residents, is a small, elevated park in the Sunset District, San Francisco, California. It is surrounded by 14th and 15th Avenues, as well as Noriega Street.Despite its small size, or about the size of a city block, the park is important geologically and botanically and offers views of downtown San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, to the Pacific Ocean, the Marin headlands, and across to the Sutro Tower. The summit of Turtle Hill rises to about. It is an outcrop of chert, which is part of the heterogeneous assemblage known as the Franciscan Formation, or Franciscan Assemblage, the primary geologic feature on which the city of San Francisco is founded, here covered with a thin layer of sand. It provides one of the last remaining habitats within the city for a number of native plants, including the endangered Franciscan wallflower and dune tansy, and also bush lupin, beach strawberry, bush monkey flower, and coyote bush. The hill is crowned with Monterey cypress trees.

  • Is something located off but highly recommended! There is a super overview of SFO! Currently, only a few tourists know. The Park is also a great staircase with mosaic levels. A great photo scene!

  • Sure, it's worth the climb for the extraordinary view. "Just do it" and bring your camera. You won't be disappointed.
  • The view is great if it's not foggy. Some of the best views of the city. It's never been too crowded when I've been.
  • I just wanted to leave a tip for people who don't want to climb the long zig zag stairs. There's another set of stairs on the eastern side of the park that starts from 14th Ave. It goes straight up to the park and takes less steps without the zig zagging silliness. You're welcome.
  • One of the most beautiful panoramic views of San Francisco. Bit of a hike to reach the top. Very little foot traffic.
  • I love visiting the city, and this park is always on my itinerary. This park in combination to the Tiled Steps always complete my day. The heights from here are simply the best, because it is beautiful from every angle, 360 degrees. Panoramic photos are a must here. It's a great place to take anyone from out of town. It's a lovely spot that will help introduce the beautiful views of San Francisco.
  • A very beautiful park with great panoramic views of San Francisco and Golden Gate Park. I would definitely recommend a visit. This is on top of a hill and when I visited, it was very very windy (as if I was going to get blown over) so make sure you dress appropriately and watch kids if you bring them.
  • Absolutely beautiful 360 panoramic views of San Francisco. Today was clear and you can see twin peaks tower, downtown SF, all of golden gate to ocean beach. Take the hidden garden steps on 16th street. A must visit.
