(4.8/5 based on 35+ reviews on the web)
Grand View Park, also referred to as Turtle Hill by local residents, is a small, elevated park in the Sunset District, San Francisco, California. It is surrounded by 14th and 15th Avenues, as well as Noriega Street.Despite its small size, or about the size of a city block, the park is important geologically and botanically and offers views of downtown San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, to the Pacific Ocean, the Marin headlands, and across to the Sutro Tower. The summit of Turtle Hill rises to about. It is an outcrop of chert, which is part of the heterogeneous assemblage known as the Franciscan Formation, or Franciscan Assemblage, the primary geologic feature on which the city of San Francisco is founded, here covered with a thin layer of sand. It provides one of the last remaining habitats within the city for a number of native plants, including the endangered Franciscan wallflower and dune tansy, and also bush lupin, beach strawberry, bush monkey flower, and coyote bush. The hill is crowned with Monterey cypress trees.

  • Grand View Park is a small public park in San Francisco, situated on a hill. From the top of the Hill offers wonderful scenic views of downtown, Sunset district, the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge. Hill is a great place to watch the sunset. You can climb the Hill for one of two staircases that go up the slope.

  • Prepare to ride and do work your legs because someone absolutely not athletic like me, the climb seemed very long under a blazing sun! But once arrived at the Summit efforts are well rewarded, we forget everything so the view is beautiful!

  • A small park on a hilltop with beautiful views over San Francisco. On one side you can see the Bay, the Ocean on the other.

  • This park has the best view in the city. Watch your step at night.
  • Worth the huff and puff to the top where you can see most of SF on a clear day. Perfect for sunsets.
  • Great views of the whole city and the bay. You can relax on one of the benches they have or take great photos of the city.
  • I just wanted to leave a tip for people who don't want to climb the long zig zag stairs. There's another set of stairs on the eastern side of the park that starts from 14th Ave. It goes straight up to the park and takes less steps without the zig zagging silliness. You're welcome.
  • beautiful views and scenery!
