Fort Mason Center, San Francisco

4.2
Part of the National Park system, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture was founded in 1977 as part of the newly formed Golden Gate National Recreation Area as a place for the community to come together for all things art, culture, and food -- visit one of the museums or galleries, host a festival or wedding, attend a class or conference, stroll along the water, fish from the piers, or enjoy a bite and cup of coffee at Greens, Goody Cafe, Cooks & Company or grab a drink at The Interval. Shop the Sunday farmers' market, and definitely check out the largest food truck gathering in the U.S.: Off the Grid, which happens on Fridays between April-October.

  • This is more a place to have some views of SF, plus of course one more option to see the Golden Gate.

  • We strolled through here after walking from Ghirardelli Square and came across a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. From the top of the hill you are able to see the entire bridge, in what ended...  more »
  • This location is okay. Everyone is friendly. We were here for a 4 day event. The cost of parking is $14, but there may be a free lot, if you are willing to walk a bit. I did think that the $12/day wif...  more »

  • Great place to get some nice local grown fruits and veggies. As well as gluten free bakery and multi cultural eateries around the market. Many venders have card readers but most still prefer cash. If cash is needed, you can go inside the "B" building behind the life music and grill. It is located right by the Marina and a great view across the bay and the beautiful golden gate bridge is right there. Make sure you go with a shopping bag. Many venders dont have plastic. Sy days 9:30am - 1:30pm
  • Great walking location and selection. Most expensive than other farmers markets I've been to but always good vibes (^_^)
  • GREAT produce! The home made bread booth is fantastic, and the fresh seafood, salmon and fish booth is good too! Try the freshly made Asian dumplings or the booth that has breakfast burritos.....all delicious!
  • This is by no means a farmers market. All fake... just an excuse to charge you more
  • Fantastic food street market (I did found it on Sunday)

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
