Fort Mason Center, San Francisco

4.2
Part of the National Park system, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture was founded in 1977 as part of the newly formed Golden Gate National Recreation Area as a place for the community to come together for all things art, culture, and food -- visit one of the museums or galleries, host a festival or wedding, attend a class or conference, stroll along the water, fish from the piers, or enjoy a bite and cup of coffee at Greens, Goody Cafe, Cooks & Company or grab a drink at The Interval. Shop the Sunday farmers' market, and definitely check out the largest food truck gathering in the U.S.: Off the Grid, which happens on Fridays between April-October.

This place is both a ballad on the Bay, a park, but especially a center of contemporary art show. It is not reported in the guides but yet we could see 4 #SophieCalle facilities in the morning with a free (donation according to your possibilities). Very. We welcome, good snap... contemporary art here finds a place in the old docks. The site is also surrounded by an organic local market of the trendy restaurant, a beautiful library. For art lovers. Fort Mason wasn't anything entirely too special, but there was lots of parking away from the street, and it's right next to the ocean!  more »

GREAT produce! The home made bread booth is fantastic, and the fresh seafood, salmon and fish booth is good too! Try the freshly made Asian dumplings or the booth that has breakfast burritos.....all delicious!

This is by no means a farmers market. All fake... just an excuse to charge you more

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
