  • If you are ever in San Francisco you should definitely visit the Farmer's Market, in addition to selling fruits and vegetables and other food items, you can eat at some localetti inside enjoying the excellent vegan meat or soups. Not to be missed.

  • The best place to get in-season local and organic produce! But remember to pace yourself, because it can get a little overwhelming with so many vendors. We love to pick up fresh oysters from the Hog Island stand to shuck ourselves.
  • One of my favorite things to do in San Francisco! Loved chatting with the farmers and getting quality, fresh produce
  • Cheap and wonderful organic produce! Everyone is so helpful and informative. I love to visit on the weekend and fill up my fridge with fresh produce for the week!
  • If you are here to get your fruits, greens and veggies, this place has everything fresh and easy on the pocket. If you request, you can taste pickles, jams, honey and fruits before you buy them, so have fun!
  • Some very good places for food, coffee, beer, wine, etc. The view from my "secret spot" is also awesome. It is a food Mecca when you know the places that have the best stuff.

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
