Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.

  • This place has all kinds of candy. Candy that's easy to find. Candy that's impossible to find. And then there's candy that just isn't made anymore. My secret guilty pleasure are Mars bars. They're impossible to find. This place has them. That and a proverbial buffet of salt water taffy. It's absolutely incredible. So MUCH TAFFY. They charge by the pound for taffy and don't have any scales handy for customer use. Genius. Because you'll probably end up walking out with 20 pounds worth of taffy and a giant hole in your pocket where your wallet used to be.
  • If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love this place. There's a huge selection of just about any candy you could imagine, even international brands that can be difficult to find. Plenty of English and German chocolates, all kinds of saltwater taffy, and even a cool selection of Harry Potter candies.
  • I have to side with the other parents. Taking children in this place is like showing them heaven on earth! lol Great selection and if you have a sweet tooth, BEWARE!!! Loved it!
  • This place definitely has plenty of candy and variety. But slightly expensive (as expected in this touristy location). Tons of salt water taffy though! Someone purchased 20+ pounds of it and it came to just under $70. That's a lot of taffy!
  • Sweet candy for me, I like it.
