  • What an amazing place if you love anything to do with fabric. Every colour of fabric, in every shade you can imagine. Buttons, love buttons, every shape, colour and size! Worth a look around, 4 floors...  more »
  • I have visiting Britex for the past 20 years, every time I am in the US. The store is kind of curious, not what you would expect in the downtown SF, and it has quite the most amazing treasures and tre...  more »
  • This conveniently located one block from union square. It is a building of 4 floors. Attention is extraordinary, fabrics of all kinds, and a flat in buttons, ribbons and accessories. On the top floor are the offers. There you will find what you are looking for.

  • They were in the middle of moving to a new location, but you wouldn't know it from the service. Super friendly and helpful, and they were celebrating the upcoming holiday in true fabric lovers fashion! It was more than just a trip to the store, it was an experience! One I encourage all fabric lovers to try for themselves. Good luck in your new location, I look forward to checking it out the next time I visit SF!
  • Britex is my favorite spot in all of San Francisco. It is a destination not just for the fashion design professional, but for anyone who loves to make things of beauty. Their fabrics are like works of art. There are very few places on earth that curate such a well-selected collection. At Britex, I meet like-minded "makers" of beautiful things, ranging from the lawyer who sews as a hobby to the designer who is making a couture ballgown. I even meet people there who just want to pick up a "blingy thing" to spruce up an old sweater. The employees are very knowledgeable and can provide great advice. When I want to treat myself to an afternoon off, I spend it at Britex, browsing their rows of fabric, buttons and trim, dreaming of what to make next. I then stroll down the street to the Palace hotel, where I enjoy champagne, hot scones and a cup of tea. A perfect afternoon!
  • Nicely renovated store - staff are amazing and helpful as they have aleays been
  • Really friendly workers that are well knowledgeable on the goods that they provide and where to get other necessities for fixing up a dress or putting together a cosplay.
  • They have many fabrics and good customer service. I love their remnants.

Where to stay in San Francisco

From inexpensive hostels in quiet residential areas to high-end hotels near the city center, San Francisco has accommodations for every budget. Key consideration is what kind of neighborhood you want to stay in. You'll find luxury hotels in Union Square, which has prime shopping, is near theaters, and is on the cable car line. Many hotels are in the northeastern portion of the city, near the tourist-driven neighborhoods of Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, both easily explored on foot. To get away from the tourist crowds, consider the smaller inns and family-run bed and breakfasts in some of the city's more charming neighborhoods, such as Noe Valley or Pacific Heights. There are also boutique hotels scattered around town. Avoid staying in the Tenderloin. If you plan to have a car with you, ask about parking availability and fees. Parking is often difficult and expensive.
