Britex is a MUST for me each time I visit. My visits started 40 years ago in my on-going quest for super high-quality natural fabrics to sew up for clothing. Silks, wools, linens, cottons, plus an env... read more »
Britex has nicely organized fabrics for fashion sewing and for home decor. I was very impressed, and I'm very spoiled, as a customer of Exquisite Fabrics in Virginia. Britex has even "more" because th... read more »

This place is dangerous. Several floors of sewing joy. More fabric than you can imagine. Whatever you need, they have it. It may not be inexpensive, but it will be quality. Lots of sewing notions too.
There aren't many places like this anymore, in any major US city. Floors and floors of gorgeous fabric, helpful staff, and endless inspiration. Don't miss the remnants section, you can score great deals here.
Love the store itself and the warm and friendly greeting from the staff on the first floor, but the woman behind the counter on the 3rd floor sours the wonderful experience here. Time and time again (including this afternoon), she differentiates how she treats and talks to minority customers. No greeting before or after my transaction, but the white lady behind me? Totally a different story. 2 stars since I probably will go back to get any special and hard to find item, and her "-cism" is her issue not mine, but no more than that as we all should be treated equally and nobody deserves mis-treatment.
The best fabric store in SF. So many premium material from Italy and France. Of course, a little pricy.... And when I say a little pricy, it means The price of the fabric is more expensive than ready to wear sold in the mall.
Went in on a busy Saturday evening very close to the store's closing time. I had very minimum knowledge about sawing ... Dione was very patient and listened to all my questions. She gave me a great suggestion and picked right fabric for my need.. Thank you for giving me the confidence. I will be back.
