  • This was our first trip to the San Diego Zoo and we were blown away! The staff clearly are the "shining happy people" REM sang about all those years ago. It didn't matter if we encountered a tour driv...  more »
  • Amazing exhibits. However, there is a lot of up and down hill walking involved. If this is an issue for you, watch for the Yellow Kangeroo buses. They are a life saver.  more »

  • My wife and I don't have kids, but we have memberships to the zoo, that's for sure! Get the annual pass then go during the week. Stroll around and marvel at this place piece by piece. Don't skip the children's zoo area, it's easy to miss but has a lot of cool stuff. If it's your first time, definitely take the bus tour first thing. It's the best way to really see the park and then decide where you want to focus your time.
  • what can I say? This place is AWESOME! I'd strongly recommend that you allot the better part of a day to take in all the amazing wildlife in this facility. The staff here is always helpful and very personable and it seems like I learn something new every time I visit. A must see for anyone in Southern California and WAYYY better than the LA County Zoo
  • Really great zoo. Depending on your speed you can see it all in a day. The bus tours are great and I would suggest doing that as one of the first things. We had a great time. The hippos were extremely active, pandas were awesome, and overall it was a great time. BRING SUNSCREEN....not because you'll likely burn, but because it's a total rip off to buy it at the gift shop. The cheapest I saw was nearly 20 dollars for 3 ounces of sunscreen.
  • Loved it. $50/person for a day pass. I recommend you do a tour bus (price included) to get an overview before you hoof it around. Wear comfy shoes and bring water (camel back). Definitely do the sky tram too (price included with a day pass too)
  • Better than I could have expected! The whole place was super clean and well maintained. The animals were well cared for and there were zoo volunteers all over providing great information. Ate at Albert's Restaurant, the food was a great value and delicious!
