Long, we have considered whether a cemetery is a "landmark". But then we have yet visited Fort Rosecrans and the seemingly endless rows of gravestones are impressive and thoughtful.

Some of the best views of the cemetery are south of the main entrance at the pull offs along the road to Cabrillo National Monument. There are two sides of the cemetery; don't miss the views on both t...  more »

Major William George Thomas, my father and my mother, Barbara Anne Thomas are buried there. It is the most beautiful place with the Pacific ocean on one side and overlooking San Diego Bay. It's an amazing place to visit and I'm so proud to have such a memorial site to visit my parents. With love, Robin Thomas

Incredibly beautiful, peaceful and moving place. A truly honorable setting for our Vets. Take some time with the headstones, and meet the airmen, solders and sailors who were true heroes in our National defense. What is remarkable is that many are spaced together in a timeless manner -- veterans of WW 1 next to Vietnam veterans, for instance.

My maternal grandparents are buried here. My grandfather, fondly called Granddaddy, was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy. This cemetery is closed to new interments, but is a final resting place for those who served our country. Breathtaking, well maintained and great respect is evident for our men and women in uniform.

Beautiful place for our loved ones to be laid to rest. I look forward to visiting our father every year on his birthday. I only wish I had taken a camera when taking these pictures as they do not do it justice. I will be sure to bring my camera next time as RNC deserves better than what my old LG Optima could do. If you find yourself down near RNC or the Point Loma Tide-pools / Cabrillo Monument, then please pay your respects to those who have served and honored our country. We are eternally indebted to their service and sacrifice.

One of the most beautiful cemeteries I have been to. Easily tops Arlington in that respect. The out of the way location means that the park is relatively quiet.
