  • To start, this review is not only about the landing, but also a bit about about party boat fishing in San Diego in general. I've been fishing many times in multiple locations, and one thing I've learn...  more »

  • A friend and I went out on a 1.5 day trip on the PROWLER that departed on 10/6. This was the first overnight trip for both of us and we had a blast. Captain Buzz Brizendine found the fish and Mathew and the crew were amazing at showing us newbies how to put those fish in the boat. I have been on a lot of charter boats over the years and my expectations were not very high based on those experiences but these guys changed my mind and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I was impressed at the effort given by the crew to make the experience enjoyable and productive. This level of effort only comes when someone really likes their job! The captain even came down multiple times a day to help people cast their bait in the right spot (something I haven't ever seen before) and if he wasn't helping you, someone else was. There was a combined effort, as a team, to make this trip amazing and they succeeded. Thanks guys.
  • Went on a half day fishing trip on the Dolphin. Great captin, great crew. Had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.
  • This review is specifically for 3/4 day Liberty fishing trip to Coronado Islands. Good: 1. The fishing area is kept clean at all times. 2. Got enough time to learn fishing and catch some 3. Bunk sleepers to take rest 4. Ryan, Julio and the captain !! 5. Hot meals in the galley Bad: 1. Online reservation page shows meals are included but they are not. Meals aren't pricey but false advertisement on the webpage isn't cool 2. 56 people on board made a HUGE mess. There wasn't space for folks to fish without getting tangled in each other's lines and bumping/knocking them over, There were about 30+ experienced people and around 20 rookies and each group was frustrated by others. 3. Some crew were plain rude and mean. Paul is one of them - simple bad attitude. Didn't respond with straight face, gave random answers, didn't help to hook bait when asked and kept moving. Maybe go on a weekday to avoid the crowd. Not great for first timers.
  • I just returned from a 3 day trip on the Excel, the boat is awesome, food is awesome, the issue I have is the ethics. We saved a year to fish on the Excel and not everyone can afford this trip (especially me). I understand you can not predict what kind of fishing but we only had 3 days, really 2.5 by the time we got out there. We drove around for 2 days looking for a Blue Fin Tuna, even if we found one I expect no one would had caught one. Finally the last day we got some Rock Fishing in. The main reason for this review is the reasoning of catching baby yellowtails. These fish are barely large enough to swallow a hook, only because they are so young and hungry they do. These fish should have never been caught and when the 1st one was brought up and seen the size, it should have been stopped right then. These fish need some time to grow and populate. From what I saw was a company that didn't care about this and only wanted to make up for a bad plan of trying for 2 days to find the big trophy tuna. I'm glad I got to do my bucket list trip, but sometimes you have to look beyond making the mighty buck and see what you are really doing to the fish population.
  • The landing has a good variety of boats. The captains know what they are doing.
