ABOUT US: OUR STORY!!!

Welcome to AhaBajaWineTours “A San Diego Premier Wine Tasting tour company to Northern Baja”

ABWT was born out of the owners love to travel, explore, and discover Baja. The owners Andres and Karen have traveled to over 35 countries in the world. By visiting vineyards in France, Spain, Italy, California and beyond, it was only a matter of time before they discovered the hidden jewel of northern Baja in Mexico called Valle de Guadalupe and all its wonders to behold.

In 2000 after traveling for 1 year in Europe, they started a business partnership that led them to creating businesses all over Old Town San Diego. These businesses grew and multiplied and led them to travel extensively throughout mainland Mexico looking for unique Mexican handicrafts to sell in their shops. Along the way they met many Americans living in Mexico, this is where they begin taking more of a vested interest in Baja.

By 2010 they ventured into the food and hospitality business by opening Congress Café and Marketplace. As they developed relationships with their customers from all over the world-Baja came up in conversation and many expressed an interest in not only traveling to Baja but living there as well. Another light bulb came on…let’s start a business bringing OT guests, shoppers, customers over to discover, explore, & adventure in Baja….just as we did years ago….. Luck would have it-“El Valle” is only 30 minutes from Andres and Karen’s Baja home. …..AND SO….. the vision for ABWT BEGAN!

We offer exciting fun filled unique hosted tours thru a variety of vineyards in the Valle de Guadalupe region of Northern Baja. The discoveries are the Aja in Baja. Come with us and get ready for a magical drive along the pacific coast of Baja as well as experiencing what we call the “Art of Chill in Baja!” A relaxed Fun-filled experience. Understand the value of the land and communities along the way: from TJ to Playas, to Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo. We are Baja wine enthusiasts with inside knowledge and connections. Discover the lifestyle of Mexico as we did years ago.

We love Baja and have been exploring the territory for over 20 years. We will share all we have learned and discovered with you.

You will get insider knowledge of what it is like to travel and live in Baja. Many #AHABAJA MOMENTS. We speak the language and have a home south of the border. Come along with us and discover the “AHA” in Baja Wine Tours.

  • Andres and Karen conducted a well organized and truly fun and entertaining wine tour. They spared no detail so that our family would enjoy the road trip and vineyards. It was a great pleasure getting to know them. I would likely recommend their company if you’re considering a Baja wine tour.
  • 5 Star Wine Tour of Valle De Guadalupe with Aha Baja Wine Tours with our host, tour guides and owners Karen and Andres. We went on a full day winery tour that started from San Diego and down to Valle De Guadalupe where we stopped at 3 winery venues and a 4th location for lunch. Our whole party was able to relax and enjoy all of the wines, scenery, venues, food and environment, while being worry and care free. You have plenty of time at each location to gain the full experience and to take all of the photos. By the way Karen, is a great photographer who will take amazing photos of your group throughout the trip! I absolutely recommend this Wine Tour with, Aha Baja Wine Tours, it will be one of your most amazing and memorable experiences! Thank you Karen and Andres!!
  • Hell of a good time, even for a gloomy guy like me. Went to three wineries each with their own unique flavor. One was half winery hand half art gallery. The second had fantastic views of the valley and super chill dogs, and the last was charmingly rustic. Bring a camera. The drive up and back was beautiful, but I'm told the crossing back to California can take a long time. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable.
  • While planning a trip to San Diego, we ran across a listing for Aha Baja Wine Tours. I had several questions and reached out by email. Karen responded, patiently answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable with all aspects of the tour. We locked in the "date" two months ahead and Karen set up a link so my 8 friends could make their payments. She emailed a week before our tour with an itinerary and carefully explained about the wineries and food venue. We swapped out breakfast for a pickup at our hotel since there were nine of us all staying at the same place...Karen emailed us that morning to advise she & Andres were on their way providing confirmation of their arrival time...then emailed again when they were at the hotel. Quick introductions were made and we were off on our amazing journey! Karen shared so much information on the drive to the first winery...her passion for Baja was contagious and we quickly started asking questions the she knowledgeably answered. We visited three wineries specially selected with our groups interests in mind, and a great venue for lunch. The cava tour was informative, the wines were varied and delicious, and the lunch was spectacular! Karen & Andres timed the return drive so we could enjoy the sun setting on the Pacific. They carefully explained the return through customs and we easily returned back to San Diego. Overall it was a magical day in the Valle de Guadalupe! The vehicle was comfortable, the drive was educational, the wineries and scenery were awesome, and the owners Karen & Andres made us feel like welcome guests. If you are looking for a Baja Wine Tour, I definitely recommend Aha Baja Wine Tours....it will be a full day traveling with two knowledgeable and caring business owners that love the area!
  • Andres and Karen were the best! Since we were celebrating a birthday, they let us keep our group intimate with only the 6 of us and even got a birthday balloon for our friend! Not only were the wineries selected wonderful, but the drive in and out of Mexico and our fun pit stops made for a memorable road trip full of laughter and singing. I will certainly consider Aha! Baja again in the future should I meander into Mexico for wine or tequila tours! Thank you Aha!
