San Clemente Pier, San Clemente

(4.6/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
A great place for surfing and swimming, San Clemente Pier is also an excellent spot for line fishing. Originally built in 1928, the pier was the vision of Ole Hanson, politician and founder of San Clemente. Stroll out onto the boardwalk for views of the palm-tree covered beach, ocean, and the Spanish-style architecture of San Clemente. Cast a line off the end of the pier for a chance to catch mackerel, barracuda, yellowtail, white sea bass, and even spiny lobster. Visit the Pier Shack and Grill on the boardwalk for burgers and seafood. San Clemente Pier is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, San Clemente Edition.

  • The sight is breath taking and the pier is stunning beautiful. I waited until the last days of my trip to visit this place. I sincerely regret not coming sooner. I would had more time to enjoy the beach; more time to casually walking on the pier and spend a lazy afternoon here. Plan to revisit for sure.
  • It's a beautiful outlook near the San Clemente Pier and the fabulous La Galette Creperie is straight across the street. We enjoy visiting this area on a regular basis.
  • Fisherman's restaurant at the base, lifeguard tower 1/3 of the way down, bathroom facility around halfway, and a bait/snack shop toward the end. Benches, tables, and bait cleaning stations all along the way. Paid telescopes toward the base as well.
  • I seen my first live whale. Actually three that day. Awesome place to visit.
  • One of my favorite peers, great for a stroll or a lunch. Great coffee bars around here.
