San Clemente Pier, San Clemente

(800+ reviews on the web)
Pier / Boardwalk Tourist Spot
A great place for surfing and swimming, San Clemente Pier is also an excellent spot for line fishing. Originally built in 1928, the pier was the vision of Ole Hanson, politician and founder of San Clemente. Stroll out onto the boardwalk for views of the palm-tree covered beach, ocean, and the Spanish-style architecture of San Clemente. Cast a line off the end of the pier for a chance to catch mackerel, barracuda, yellowtail, white sea bass, and even spiny lobster. Visit the Pier Shack and Grill on the boardwalk for burgers and seafood. San Clemente Pier is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, San Clemente Edition.

  • The pier was fine, not super exciting. Nice views from the end of the pier. The beach was nice, clean. Bathrooms were not great, but at least they were bathrooms.  more »

  • Very clean beach and pier. Fishermans restaurant and snacks loclated at the beginning on the pier. Bait sold at end of pier. Not usually crowded. Parking can be found in paied lots or in residential neighborhood for free if you wish to walk.
  • Railroad near the ocean — makes me want to jump on that Amtrak train, take a seat near the window and capture the views I'll see right into the heart ❤ And the pier has relaxing vibes!
  • The sight is breath taking and the pier is stunning beautiful. I waited until the last days of my trip to visit this place. I sincerely regret not coming sooner. I would had more time to enjoy the beach; more time to casually walking on the pier and spend a lazy afternoon here. Plan to revisit for sure.
