Where to stay in San Antonio

To be at the heart of San Antonio's buzzing atmosphere and attractions, stay along the city's River Walk. Lined with hotels of all levels, the area is known for excellent dining and nightlife, and is close to all of the city's main sights. While this area tends to be pricier than other neighborhoods, it is the best option for those traveling without a car who want to take full advantage of their vacation time in San Antonio. For a more rustic experience, venture outside of the city limits to stay at one of the old-world guest ranches that dot the beautiful countryside.

  • Had time to kill before heading to the airport , so headed over to check it out. Like a mini-natural history museum , they have a couple good displays and nice collection of dinosaur bones. They have ...  more »

  • Love the renovated Witte! We went and visited for the whale exhibit. We are also season pass holders and really enjoy going all the time. Everyone is always friendly, my son was part of the spring break camp and even today when we see the staff and they say hi to us and my son. Love it.
  • The renovation has created a beautiful and inviting, interactive museum. It reminds me of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. Each area is spacious and child-friendly. Went into the "Above and Beyond" visit sponsored by Boeing. if you have a child that is interested in aircraft or space flight, this would be an excellent experience for the family together. As an adult, you are likely to breeze through. Suggestion for the curators at the Witte: I understand that Boeing sponsored it, however, as an accredited museum, the Witte should require sponsors to include all historical products in their chronological historical time lines and exhibit displays.
  • Customer service was bad & I could not even go into the store there to buy a stuff animal for my granddaughter. They did not want to let me in. They said I needed a ticket which I did have & I had sort out the place. So I wanted to buy a stuff animal on my way hm. It took a lot of arguments & me asking why I could not enter the store. I will never go to that place again. They are very rude. Bad customer service but i did finally get my granddaughter her stuff animal. I was going to buy a few more but after all the trouble they gave me I just bought one they could have made a lot of money out of me that day but since they had bad customer service Im just not ever going back to that place again. I was just so surprised that a place like that you would think they would want to make as much money as they could.
  • Love this place. Great static exhibits and many wonderful traveling exhibit. Kids section for sciences and minor exploration. The family member ship is a great deal if you have kids and need something to do during the hot summer hours.
  • For all the renovations made, they left lots of empty spaces to be filled. Can't believe they made a huge fuss over the changes made but yet nothing new and eye appealing was added. The building looks better. The exhibits have a lot to be desired. Still nowhere near the Houston museum. A word of advice to the owners: don't make the building look pretty if you're not making the inside match. Too many empty voids that could've been filled with exhibits rather than pictures and facts. Go to Houston and take notes please.
