  • A pleasant and interesting museum. Many of the exhibits were better suited to families with children.
  • Such a unique museum. Takes several buildings in a beautiful setting, right next to brackenridge park and the San Antonio river, to really give you a place to stay and explore for hours. The maya exhibit was wonderful. Admission is high if you add on the current feature exhibit, but if you are local a membership is a bargain, will pay itself off in 2 visits.
  • love the free family on Tuesdays special after 4pm! we tried to go to the childrens museum but they turned us away saying they were full..what is that nonsense!?!? so we went to witte and were nottt disappointed! only regret is I wish that their maya exhibit was included in the free family else will our kids learn?
  • Don't let the construction right now scare you away. The Witte Museum is a great place for hands on activities for a wide variety of ages. Our latest visit was during the Maya exhibit. I wasn't sure my 2.5 yr old would find anything she would enjoy, but between the exhibit and the interactive play area we both had a great time. There's free parking in a covered garage, so even in the hot months your car is out of the sun.
  • Just okay. My wife took the kids here a few years ago and loved it. We went on the Tuesday free day (3pm to 8pm). It was very crowded which, because it was the free time, was expected. We checked out the HEB Body building which was just okay. A lot of things my wife liked two years ago have been removed. The treehouse is just a walkway really. We did the wall climb which was bu far the highlight of the trip. Then we went to the Old Texas exhibit. Kids got a kick out of jumping for the seismometers and the old west artifacts were neat. In short - the trip was free and we got what we paid for. If we'd paid for the visit, and bought the extra exhibit tickets, I'd have felt ripped off. Hopefully it will return to its former glory when the construction is done. I'd also seriously suggest trying to find a way to connect all the various buildings. It seemed like a LOT of potential exhibit space was lost due to the seperated design of the grounds.
  • well thank goodness I took my walker very hot, no notices of that when you pay for the Witte Museum plus the Mayan exhibit, the Witte is closed period. You walk a millon miles it seemed nearly all the way back to Hildrebrand street. in the heat. to a glass building right . I have came for years to exhibit's there but won't bother anymore. The hike was very hard on me, and would be for any one with any kind of health problems the exhibit was as far as I was concerned sub par for what I had seen in past they had places to sit if you could squat on a very low unstable stool. I feel like they are fixing the Witte on our pocket books no longer can you park out front under trees you have to go to a parking garage much futhur away I am so disaponited I guess it is right you can never go home again .
