  • Recently went to this Art Museum when we have some family over from DC. Ironically enough, it was a Tuesday night, which are free nights, which is a huge plus for people that don't happen to know this fact. The history is rather impressive and the sculptures are well crafted. The paintings, the feel of the museum as you walk through different aspects of Texan history is well done. They have headphones placed adequately throughout so you can listen in on some parts of the art displayed. It's a good place to visit and it looks like the place was recently renovated. The museum itself is a bit on the small side, but it is worth a visit. Strongly recommend, even from someone like me who isn't much into art history.
  • We Yankees were pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed the Briscoe. I especially liked the introductory video which featured "everyday" Westerners explaining how meaningful the West was in their lives. Later, as we explored the exhibits and the 2- or 3- minute videos scattered among the sculptures, paintings, and artifacts, we saw that many of the people featured in the introduction were artists, collectors, and members of Texan families which had been here for centuries. Excellent!
  • Fantastic displays of western art. Very knowledgeable and friendly docents. Great place to visit but NO plans email to park a bus. Guess the city of San Antonio doesn't want tours downtown.
  • Adorable little museum for $10 entry, just off riverwalk and near La Vallita. Ansel Adams exhibit running now into December.
  • A very interesting museum. Beautiful sculptures inside and outdoors. Very nice artwork. Worth seeing, especially if you like cowboys and the old west.
