  • We were impressed with the number and variety of the birds at the zoo - many species are even extinct in the wild and being raised here for release back into the wild in their home country A great zoo...  more »
  • The zoo was very nice, with a large assortment of animals. Park was very clean. Train ride was running, but we did not take it. Looked like fun.  more »
  • It is recommended to arrive early to find parking nearby. Wear CAP or blocker and stroller if you have young children. What I most liked was feeding the giraffes

  • Wasn't a bad experience whatsoever. Very old school vibe to it. Had some animals residing there I've never seen before so I did enjoy that aspect. With that being said I must admit I find this to be almost too old school of a vibe. Feel like the animals aren't flourishing as well as they could. The Houston zoo was like this at one point in time and I hadn't realized how far they've come until I stepped foot into this one. With that being said I would probably go again, but even if I lived there I'm not sure I'd become a member. Doesn't seem all that worth it from my first visit.
  • This zoo is small enough to navigate without wearing out the kids but large enough that it's more than worth the visit. Admittedly, the process to enter the zoo could be streamlined a little better. If you enjoy your visit and see yourself coming back a few times a year you would definitely ask to apply your day pass fee towards a yearly membership it pays for itself in two visits.
  • I have not been to the San Antonio zoo since the 1990s! This place looks so much better! * * * Pro Tips * * * Purchase a season pass! There's plenty of opportunity to go and this supports the zoo. But...do not go during Spring Break unless have been to a crowded venue with kids amd are comfortable with that. Definitely wear some comfortable walking shoes. The parking over flow lots can be about a half of a mile away.
  • We love the zoo; there is always more to see and do than we can manage in one visit, so each visit is a little different. The kids play area and tot spot are great for our youngest (2) while still having enough to keep our oldest entertained (6). They love seeing the animals, especially the Okapi, while still being interesting for adults, too. Parent bonus: all the walking tires them out so they get decent naps, too! I definitely recommend bringing a wagon or stroller if you have young kids. Rentals are also available.
  • This zoo is pretty neat. Lory’s Landing was my favorite part and I recommend you try it. The burger was good but the nachos cheese was cold. The Bald Eagle was also a neat thing to see. Also the people were pretty friendly and the environment was nice. Overall it was pretty neat and I would like to go again someday.
