Observe different animal species as they share a common watering place, and watch a hippopotamus and a Nile crocodile up close through underwater viewing windows. You can hop on a train for a tour around the zoo, visit a butterfly garden, play with parrots, and ride a carousel. There's a lot of walking to do, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water with you. • This zoo is not as big or organized as the Houston Zoo, but there's some things to try. They have a butterfly exhibit you can sit and watch them fly around you. I also enjoyed the bird area where the ...  read more »
  • A nice place to take the kids. Lots of animals to from lions and bears to monkeys. Small reptile exhibit as well as a small aquatic exhibit. The butterfly exhibit is very cute, a must for little girls. Paved walk ways. Good stroller accessibility. Lots of bench seating for breaks. Food and drink. Plenty of restrooms.
  • This was a great price for all the options. There was also surprisingly a lot of shade. I would suggest you bring some water bottles. They could use a way to improve airflow, so if you go when it's hot plan for a way to keep cool by picking the order you see things. It would also be cool if they made an app that showed you when the animals were not in their enclosures and maybe made it interactive. Again, a pretty good deal that offers military discounts.
  • Wonderful Zoo which has great shade and perfectly positioned inside exhibits which allow you to cool off. Really only the Africa exhibit is hot but they have ways of cooling that off too. Reasonably priced and just a great time.
  • This is one of the best family fun options available in San Antonio. With their annual family passes you can get a better deal. There is so much to do and they are always having special events. You can come back all year long and always find something new going on.
  • The Zoo was the first in the country to become AZA accredited. It celebrated it's 100th birthday in 2014. Many updates have and are being made to exhibits, including the addition of 3 new giraffes, of which you can feed, and a new elephant friend for Lucky, named Nicole. A wide variety of species awaits every guests who visits. Expect to be here for a minimum of 3-4 hours, at the least, to see evrything. Have little ones 5 and under? Make sure to visit the Tiny Tot Nature Spot. Make it your last stop of the day, as the kiddos will not want to leave, lol.
