San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, San Antonio

(4.8/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
First established by Catholic missionaries on the frontier of the Spanish Southwest, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park highlights the history behind the colonization of this area. Take a step back into the 18th century and explore the four preserved missions located on the property: Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada. Free, hour-long, and highly recommended guided ranger tours depart from the visitor center at Mission San Jose. While the missions are accessible by foot or bike via the riverwalk trail, they are quite spread out, so traveling by car is recommended.
