Hike or bike and explore the religious history of San Antonio as you travel past four historic missions that have been nominated as World Heritage Sites. The trail leads you along the San Antonio River Walk through a 13 km (8 mi) stretch of rehabilitated aquatic habitat and woodland to each of the historic Catholic missions founded by Spanish Franciscan priests in the 1700s. Start at Mission Concepción, first dedicated in 1755; it's the oldest stone church in the United States that is fully unrestored yet still intact. From here, you'll move on to Mission San José, the queen of the missions, founded in 1720.   • Educational to visit the different missions along the trail which includes the Alamo. Parts of the trail are tree covered which provided a nice break. I thought the bikes were a little expensive to re...  more »
  • We took our car and were very pleased at how easy it was to find. We were really glad we went and felt as though we stepped back in time. Well worth our time.  more »
