Founded in 1720, Mission San Jose is the largest of the missions in Texas and offers visitors a glimpse into the area's Spanish community life more than 250 years ago. This Catholic mission was rebuilt in limestone in 1768 and is dubbed Queen of the Missions because of its relative size compared to fellow sites within the UNESCO-designated San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. This particular mission underwent restoration in the 1930s and is most well-known for its detailed rose window.   • It was pretty hot when we got there so we made sure we had cold water with us. There is a lot of walking involved all around the complex. The main church is beautiful. They were getting ready to...  more »
  • Managed by the National Park Service, the Park Rangers are there to educate kids of all ages. Inside the visitor's center, they have kid activities that will help them learn about life in the 1700s.....  more »
  • To be honest, we came to San Antonio for the Alamo. Ended up doing the full mission trail. This was my favorite of the missions including the Alamo, would highly recommend!  more »
