El Mercado, San Antonio
(2.9/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Shop where the locals do at El Mercado, a historical market hosting over 100 shops and stalls selling everything from pottery to cuisine. Look for the perfect souvenir among wood carvings, glassware, clothing, hand-crafted leather, and colorfully designed ceramics. Explore the quality restaurants for a meal or just grab a budget-friendly snack like churros or corn-on-the-cob from the stalls. Drivers should keep in mind that parking in the area is difficult to find and often expensive. Take cash instead of a card so you can bargain for lower prices. Put El Mercado into our San Antonio trip generator and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This is a fun visit to experience a little bit of Mexico with lots and lots of shops. You can do a lot of shopping or a little. People are very nice.
  • I was expecting El Mercado to be a bit bigger, but combine it was the Market Square and you will have plenty of shopping opportunities.
  • The shops were fun to browse! A good deal of the merchandise was touristy and quite a few shops had similar products, but there were some nicer things as well. We particularly enjoyed the leather good...  more »
