  • I have not been familiar with the culture and art of the western United States, so this museum is particularly fresh for me, from sculpture, draw ink painting to installation, step by step to bring the audience back to the time of the past, it is worth the time to appreciate.

  • The Briscoe has a lovely collection of artifacts--spurs, guns, etc.--and paintings and sculptures of the West, featuring white settlers, Latinos, and Native Americans, all in a sympathetic light. The ...  more »
  • We were in SanAntonio for a work trip but found this wonderful museum near our hotel. We spent two hours exploring the art exhibit and were tempted by some of the wonderful art for sale.  more »

  • The Briscoe Western Art Museum was wonderful to visit. We visited on a Tuesday evening when admission is free, but would recommend visiting any time as the experience is well worth the cost. It was three floors of art, as well as an outdoor courtyard area. We really enjoyed all the paintings and sculptures. The model of the Alamo was amazing. We were just in town for a conference and happened to be staying at a nearby hotel, but if your at the River Walk, I highly recommend stopping in.
  • SUPER cool museum right on the Riverwalk. Definitely worth stopping in if you've got to the time, and especially if you're just visiting Texas for the first time. Very reasonable to get in, 3 floors of exhibits including their special exhibits that change. Lots if neat stuff to see and learn about. It'll definitely change your view of the area and it's history.
  • The Briscoe is a must see for anyone remotely interested in Texas or art. There are amazing collections of spurs, saddles, paintings, bronzes, and Texas/Mexican artifacts from the Alamo and other southern wars. The permanent collection highlights local history and the museum often puts on special events. The building boasts beautiful decor, with ornately trimmed ceilings and a very powerful and large sculpture in the lobby. It's a go to stop if you're going through San Antonio Museums.
  • I walk around this area lots of time never new it was there, which is very sad in my part. It was a great museum, such amazing art, very detailed pieces. And of course just the building it self is a gorgeous place. Tuesday night are free from 4-9pm. If u can, please leave a donation.
  • Had a wonderful time exploring the museum. They definitely have some fun items to view and good stories that go along with them. It gave us some insight on the history of Texas.
