Family History Library houses the largest collection of genealogical records in the world. The library attracts visitors from around the globe hoping to find their ancestors and piece together their family history. Millions of records in the form of microfilm, microfiche, books, and periodicals provide you with the resources to find your roots. When you enter the library, you can watch a short orientation film to help you figure out how to start your search. A staff member or volunteer will then lead you to one of their five floors, depending on what you are seeking. The staff can answer any questions you may have and help you trace your ancestry. If you have any documents about your relatives, bring them along, as well as a flash drive to save any information you uncover. • I spent a little over two hours working with a mentor ( these people donate their time to help you). I was shown how to maneuver through screens, people, events and in the end I managed to. Traced bac...  read more »

  • This place is a must see and you must go if in SLC. The assistants were all helpful and more than giving of their knowledge, and the Elders that I worked with were great. This is an unlimited database...  read more »
  • I recently visited this site as a first timer. I had a wonderful experience. I was initially assigned a helper and he got me acquainted with the library. Next, I needed assistance on some German ancestors and I was assigned a person who spoke German. Both were very helpful. I left with several ideas to help continue my research when I got home.
  • While I am not Mormon, and their main goal is to convert those that aren't members and to baptize the dead that they find... This is an amazing family history library with knowledgeable staff. They can truly be helpful in finding your ancestors.
  • If the microfilms you need are already there then you are in good shape. But they are INCREDIBLY unreliable when you try to order films from the Vault. There have been so many times were I made a special trip to the library because they claimed my film arrived only to learn that it hadn't. Most of the employees are incompetent and the customer service is terrible.
  • Amazing place to do family history! The staff was very friendly and they had a ton of resources!
  • Very helpful staff with a lot of useful information. I wished I lived closer so I could use when I want. Probably the one place with the most complete information in the world.
