  • I have been on several trips down the Middle Fork with different companies over the years, and I have found Solitude to be the absolute best! The most comfortable and luxurious experience by far, while remaining very laid back and personable. The crew goes above and beyond to create a seamless and vivid journey down the beautiful Salmon River. Oh, and the food was out of this world. Out of this world.
  • Best family vacation of our lives! Our two teenage boys enjoyed the trip as much as we did. The crew was fabulous. The fishing was a real treat. The food was delicious. After two nights in the tent, I elected to sleep under the stars and that was a real treat. We hope to go back and our youngest son wants to work on the river one day.
  • This was just an outstanding trip. It had everything: amazing rapids, great fishing, wonderful camaraderie, first-class guides, and topnotch food and wine, all in one of the most breathtaking wilderness areas left in the lower 48. Willi and crew really know how to do it up right. I highly recommend it!
  • Willi and his crew of entertaining, professional and delightful guides will provide an experience on a river which should in fact be kept secret. If you want an experience that you will relive over and over, particularly in the chill of winter or in the midst of a traffic jam, do this. This is from an Idaho boy who has been down that river before, and never in such style or comfort. Caught more fish than I care to count. And my wife says the guides are hot. Seriously, this outfit is the best. So is the Middle Fork.
  • Nothing short of an absolutely amazing week on the river!!! We're beach people. We go to the beach, charter yachts, and play in the surf. It's what we do. How could a week inland, on a river, compare to that? I couldn't have been more wrong. Our week was multi-family, multi-generational, with ages ranging from 7 (my daughter) to about 60, and most ages in between. Up early, amazing and full days, and evenings into nights around the campfire laughing, joking and just plain relaxing. Old fashioned, family fun. With more than a touch of luxury. Camps were set up down river by the guides every day before we arrived off the river. All meals were gourmet level: 2 inch pork chops, amazing fresh pastas, tremendous steaks... And the desserts every night. Unbelievable. During the days, rafting, with as much participation (or spectating) as you please. Fly fishing, hiking, old homestead exploration, amazing waterfalls, searching for gold nuggets, and then more amazing food... Breakfast, lunch and dinner. But the relaxation. Completely unplugged, as there certainly was no signal. Prepare for that, and let it go. Although the tents, cots and sleeping bags were great, after three nights, we slept under the stars with an amazing view overhead. Tranquil doesn't cover it. But about the team. All amazing and engaging personalities. Fun to be around, amazingly considerate, and always tending to our wants and needs. And at the same time, incredibly protective and safety conscious. Literally we could have done nothing for ourselves, but where's the fun in that. We jumped right in, complicated whatever was going on, and certainly made more work for the staff. You would have thought they loved our help, but I doubt it. They even provided for a hot shower set up. Willi Cannell runs a tight ship. Everything has a place, and a process, and he is ever writing in his little notebook, about where things can be refined and improved. Although a new owner of the business (4 years now), he's a credit to the outfitter trade, and a leader for his guides. His (and his staff) commitment to the river and wilderness of Idaho is apparent and impressive. Do yourself a favor: Despite any doubts you may have, book this trip. Book it before you can't get this team. You'll never regret it. One of the best and favorite of many vacations we've tremendously enjoyed.
