We have been taking our kids here for ten years. Love the train and the gem mine. Zoo is very good for a place this size.
We got into town early for our trip to ride Thomas the Tank Engine and decided to check this spot out. Traffic was awful getting in as we were there on their Jamboree weekend but once we got in we had... read more »
This park had it all! And I don't think I spent more the $7 for three people. My three year old loved the wildlife exhibit, petting barn, and the train ride where he got to see "wild animals". I will ... read more »
My husband and I chose Dan Nicholas Park as our first campsite to try out our new travel trailer. We planned on staying a week but liked it so much we ended up staying 2 weeks. The campground is well maintained and the folks that run the park are so nice and helpful. The park has a lot of activities for all ages so we took advantage of the time there and invited friends and family to visit. The bathrooms and showers are scrubbed from top to bottom weekly and cleaned daily. I had no problem using the faculties as you could smell and feel how clean they were. The sites are roomy with wooded scenery all around you so you can easily relax. There was plenty of parking for our extra car. They had electric and water. The dump station was on your way out by a bath house. We did not have any trouble accessing it. There is a beautiful lake nearby and we found some really good restaurants nearby but you still feel like you are away from the city and traffic. A beautiful place to stay. We will be back to visit again for sure!!!
For more than three decades, I've been fortunate to frequent Dan Nicholas Park. As a child, I visited the 'snake building' (Nature Center) and stood in awe as I watched the snakes slither in their serpentarium homes. As an adult, I still enjoy observing them, and watching my own children's eyes grow wide with intrigue is just as entertaining. This park has so much for your family to enjoy: fishing, nature trails, animals, paddle boats, running, tennis, volleyball, camping, gem mining...I could go on! The best time to visit is during the week, in the morning hours. You aren't as likely to be crowded.
Dan Nichols Park has something for everyone, from sports fields to a nature science center to playgrounds to mini golf to panning for gems to nature walks. Picnic areas under tree cover offer comfort from the summer heat.
