  • Amazing candy the store is right across from the house of the seven gables museum. Great place to stop. Gets crazy crowded. Try the pistachio chocolate it's out of this world.

  • If you like sweets this is a must stop. Being the first candy store is just cool and the sweets are awesome. Loved the turtles!
  • This quaint little shop is right across the street from the House of Seven Gables exhibit in Salem and takes you back to a time when confectioneries were less mass produced. It's a little on the small side so it is not easy to maneuver around the shop when there's a dozen or more people in there, but it does give you time to look closely over everything. I picked up some assorted chocolates and a licorice pipe, while my kids purchased root beer barrels, string licorice, and some chocolates shaped like seashells. You are going to pay a premium for these delights but it's worth it when you take that first bite.
  • What a grand selection of homemade candies from America's oldest candy store! The smell once you walk in the door hearkens back to a much simpler time when you would run down to the corner with a dime for a treat. The prices, unfortunately, have increased, but their selection is second to none. Try the Gibralters, the classic candy confection that made Ye Olde Pepper Company famous.
  • I bought a pack of Black Jacks here after visiting the House if Seven Gables (it's right across the street). I love molasses, and these had a great, sweet, molasses flavor to them.
  • Can't leave Salem without their famous Turtles and Gibraltar candy
  • Very cute and historic store. It was packed the day I went, and is probably always packed, being across the street from the House of Seven Gables. I purchased some maple drops and maple walnut fudge as souvenirs for friends, as this is a historic store and in New England, home of the best maple products. I was dismayed to find, upon returning home, that there is NO actual maple in either the drops or the fudge, only sugar, corn syrup, and "natural and artificial flavors." I was too embarrassed to give it to our friends. Cute store, but I could get the same cheap quality anywhere, including in here in Calif.
