Hocus Pocus Tours is a licensed, locally owned, family operated, award winning touring company in Salem Massachusetts. We offer two unique ways to experience the hocus pocus of America’s most bewitching city by the sea.

The first tour we offer is our daily, guided, 90-minute award winning Hocus Pocus Tours Walking Tour. Since 2003, I have led this walk of Salem’s historic downtown. Enjoy stories of intriguing people, discover the truth about Salem's infamous witchcraft hysteria, experience the authentic story of Salem's most notorious murder, encounter how Nathaniel Hawthorne spent much of his life trying to escape the legacy of a hanging judge, and find out what Salem locations were used in the block buster movie Hocus Pocus. Space is limited, so purchase your Walking Tour tickets prior to your arrival in Salem.

The second tour we offer is our brand new, cutting edge, self-guided cell phone tour, Salem by Cell. If you’re a bit adventurous and like the idea of exploring Salem on your own, then this tour is for you! Salem by Cell turns your cell phone into your private guide connecting you to more than 45 stops that stretch from the historic waterfront to the stately mansions of one of America’s most beautiful streets. Purchase your Salem by Cell experience today.

  • Because of the pandemic this tour company wasn't able to physically take you on the tour. But they had for a VERY reasonable price a self-guided tour. Easy to follow. Susan was so nice on the phone.....  more »

  • This tour is absolutely worth your time and money. Susan goes above and beyond with this tour. She is so full of Salem history, knowledge, and fun little tidbits. She’ll give you a great overview of the town and the history that is here. She’s very respectful and this tour is definitely kid friendly. We came in March and it was still chilly. She provided us with hand warmers! Love this tour and would absolutely recommend her to everyone.
  • We came to Salem for our first time this past April. What an amazing experience we had with Hocus Pocus tours! We had our own private tour with Susan, and you could tell how passionate she was and what a great story teller she is! She takes you to places you would of had no idea about if you’d walk Salem on your own, we so enjoyed her stories and her knowledge on all the history. She showed us site after site and was so fun to listen too! Highly recommend this tour! I know we will be back one day for another one! Thank you again from OKC, Susan!
  • The tour of Salem with Susan was absolutely amazing. It was worth every minute and I could have stayed for hours. The time just flew by. My son, Matt and I learned so many interesting things about Salem. It is obvious that Susan has a real passion for Salem because she was so captivating!!! I have never been to Salem before and the tour with Susan made a nice weekend GREAT!
  • This tour was amazing! Susan and her husband are wonderful people who love and care about the rich history their town offers—and if definitely shows through this tour! It was very personable and I could hear everything the entire way! We went on a cold, rainy night so I would look ahead at your forecast before you go, to decide if you need to bring an umbrella, snow boots, scarf, gloves, etc. She actually mentioned someone brought a blanket one time, not a bad idea!
  • It was my husband's first time in Salem and I found the Hocus Pocus tours from researching online, after reading the reviews I'd thought I'd give it a try. Susan and her husband were extremely kind, genuine and she was an amazing guide. She was knowledgeable, funny and even recommended some local restaurants (if you like seafood try Turner's restaurant, you will NOT be disappointed. The lobster bisque and stuffed shrimp were delicious). Upon arriving to the location they greeted us and offered some hand warmers -- which were needed, such a nice gesture! Once the tour was done, they gave us a broom pen and the option to keep a lanyard we were given at the beginning of the tour. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Salem! What a beautiful, quaint and friendly town.
