  • This was a fun little stop. The kids were scared as we explored the galley. There was lots of info on the props. Military discount was available which helped on cost.  more »

  • Abaolutely LOVED THIS MUSEUM!!!! This was by far my favorite place in Salem and I've been there twice from out of state. The owner really is a true horror fan full of knowledge. The "caretakers" are awesome as well! I just wish this place was bigger so he could expand his collection!!! I also wish he could have another one in another big city. There are so many horror fans out there who really appreciate this type of stuff. My infant baby and 3 year old son had a great time as well and nothing scared them, although I wouldn't suggest it for children who scare easily. The monsters are lifelike, for sure! Our friend's 2 young daughters enjoyed it too (both under 3).
  • Monsters in Salem. Love it. If you love scary movies or cinema history you'll love this place too. They are closed for the winter while they switch locations to Essex street which will be awesome. It is a much bigger location so it will be s huge improvement.
  • This place is SO AWESOME! I was pretty skeptical going in, thinking it would be kind of hokey and goofy; especially given a lot of the other Salem attractions being used to draw in tourists... But I was SO pleasantly surprised! If you're a fan of horror movies, GO HERE. It was so cool! They have some really awesome life-size horror icons, and the whole environment is so great. Double bonus - William Ragsdale from the original "Fright Night" was there signing autographs! Photos aren't allowed, so I don't have any to share - but I definitely, definitely recommend making this place a destination on your trip to Salem, MA!
  • My wife and I enjoyed going through the museum. Excellent replicas of famous horror movie characters. For all the people getting twisted about the rules- they are there for a reason.
  • The guy at the counter was being a complete "jerk" (would use a stronger word but I don't think google would approve of this review). I heard him say there were two rules: no touching things and no flash photography. I have PTSD and can't stand loud noises - asked him if there were jump scares before we went in and he said no. Anyway, I took some photos (without flash) and instead of being an adult telling me "hey no photos of any kind actually" he forced a bunch of jump scares on me (loud noises and machine air blowing at my ankles). I thought that was extremely unprofessional. I don't understand why he couldn't have given me a warning (in this case due to a misunderstanding on my part), instead of "punishing" me. If he asked me to delete the photos I took, I would've complied because it was my mistake. What he did was 100% the wrong way to go about establishing a rule. Otherwise, this museum is actually pretty cool. Small, but super interesting. I will edit my rating that will reflect more on the enjoyment of the museum rather than the way I was treated, if management can issue me an apology for what happened.
