  • Timing is everything in life and we visited this cheese shop about 20 minutes north of Salem on a rainy Friday morning. It's a good hour & fifteen from Portland. You know you're on a dairy farm when y...  more »

  • This is a wonderful place to visit as you travel through Oregon. They make a variety of cheese that you can sample at their counter and their team made some wonderful recommendations for wine and food pairings. The Greek cheddar and smoked gouda were favorites of ours and I encourage you to stop by and give them a try.
  • In the local area around Salem, nicer restaurants proudly serve Willamette Valley Cheese Company cheese in appetizers and on burgers. My favorite is the smoked gouda, but they have so many good cheeses, it's hard to choose. I've been to this tasting room 3 times and all 3 times, a very nice lady let us taste as many as we wanted for free. I want to say they have about 20 available to taste. It's at a dairy and the drive to the tasting room will probably get your car dirty. There was an old dog that barely noticed us as we entered. If you like cows, you can see them as you walk to and from you car. We also buy their cheese in boutique stores around town when we want to treat someone.
  • I absolutely love their Cranberry and Blueberry Havarti. I'm a huge cheese guy and they are fantastic! I picked mine up at the Beaverton Farmers Market and I'll go every week to pick some up!
  • Great cheese testing, for free! The cheese is very good, and the cost is perfect. A definite stop when in the area.
  • If you love cheese, come out to see a local cheese factory. It's not a tourist attraction like the one in tillamook: Willamette Valley Cheese Company makes specialty cheeses for purchase in small pouches. When you enter the small store, someone will greet you and offer to let you taste their different cheeses. Unique flavors like chili garlic and coffee are available for tasting and all of them are high quality and delicious. Unfortunately we couldn't stay long because we had brought four little children and they couldn't sit still through the presentation. The kids enjoyed seeing the cows at feeding time, though!
