  • I often walk in this area during the day. There is a large park surrounding the capitol with educational signs to help you identify trees and plants. Inside the capitol there are guided tours and lots...  more »

  • This beautiful and historic art-deco building is well worth the time to visit, whether wandering on your own or taking the free guided tour. We climbed the narrow circular interior staircase to the very top, trying hard to ignore a family with small unparented kids who were attempting to take us out on the metal somewhat scary stairwell, and followed our two guides up to the roof. From there we had an awesome view of Salem and an up-close look at the gold-leafed statue on the roof. Very impressive. We also got a good overview of the building's history from our wonderful guides. The grounds are also very pretty, with various sculptures and interesting foliage. The building is a short walk from downtown Salem and right across from Willamette University, which is also nice for a stroll-through.
  • Best restroom in Oregon. Will visit again.
  • I loved the tour. Great for kids and adults.
  • Nice looking building, but needs a good cleaning!
  • Must visit at least one as it is the Capitol building... if you join the tour, you might actually learn something... or you can read the post and sign yourself... architecture is beautiful, great for snapping few pictures.. gift shop is a bit small but who actually seriously buy stuffs there... a nice park in front of the building, another place to shoot pictures... it is free, why not visit when you are in the area
